Vehicle clutch control systems

A vehicle having a clutch which connects an engine with a driveline which includes a multi-ratio gearbox, the clutch having an actuator which can be operated by a vehicle driver to engage and disengage the clutch, the actuator also having a control system arranged to move the clutch between fully engaged and fully released positions through a range of positions allowing variable levels of clutch slip in order to automatically reduce torsional vibrations in the driveline. The control system is configured to recognize a plurality of predetermined Vehicle Operation Modes defined by the combination of a Clutch Slip Status criterion as hereinbefore defined with one or more of the hereinbefore defined operating criteria of Manual Clutch Position Control Input Interface Status, Release Bearing Position Status and Slip Velocity Demand Status and, dependent on the recognized Vehicle Operation Mode, the control system applies a different clutch control strategy to achieve the required level of clutch slip to damp vibration in the driveline and provide transition between the different Vehicle Operation Modes without exciting an uncomfortable level of vibration in the driveline.

A method for controlling a dual clutch transmission (DCT) may include: determining, by a state determination unit, whether a clutch of the DCT is stuck; disabling, by a control unit, the clutch when it is determined that the clutch is stuck; controlling, by the control unit, the driving unit to control the disabled clutch through a reference operation; determining, by the state determination unit, whether the disabled clutch is normally operated, when a vehicle is stopped; and enabling, by the control unit, the clutch when it is determined that the disabled clutch is normally operated.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR

A method for adjusting and adapting an operating point of a hydraulic actuator arrangement, in which a volume flow source is connected to a hydraulic cylinder via a pressure line that is filled with a hydraulic fluid. The method includes regulating a volume of the hydraulic fluid by the volume flow source, wherein an operating point of a position of the actuator arrangement corresponds, with respect to a predefined parameter, to a device which is to be actuated by the actuator arrangement. A modified volume of the hydraulic fluid which is necessary to adjust the operating point is derived from a rotational position of a volume flow source motor and/or of the volume flow source.

A control system is for a clutch mechanism. The clutch mechanism includes a first engaging element, a second engaging element, and a piston. The first engaging element is configured to be moved according to change of a position of the piston. The first engaging element and the second engaging element are coupled to each other such that torque can be transmitted from the first engaging element to the second engaging element. The control system comprises an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to learn an engagement start position, according to a rotational speed of one of the first engaging element and the second engaging element. The engagement start position is a position of the first engaging element at the time when the first engaging element and the second engaging element start contacting with each other.

Control method for carrying out a gear shift in a transmission provided with a dual-clutch gearbox

A control method for carrying out a gear shift in a transmission provided with a dual-clutch gearbox, so as to shift from a current gear to a following gear; the control method comprises the steps of: receiving a gear shift command; opening a first clutch associated with the current gear; closing a second clutch associated with the following gear; determining whether a driving style is a comfort driving style, an energy efficiency driving style, a sports driving style or a racing driving style; and in case of upshifting, controlling the second clutch after the complete closing of the second clutch, so as to allow said second clutch to temporarily transmit a torque that is greater than the torque to be transmitted by the second clutch immediately after the gear shift and than the torque transmitted by the first clutch immediately before the gear shift, only in case of energy efficiency or racing driving style.

Intermesh engagement device

An intermesh engagement device includes an intermesh engagement mechanism, a moving member, an actuator configured to apply a thrust to a moving member in an engaging direction, a transmission spring configured to transmit the thrust of the actuator from the moving member to a sleeve, a return spring, a stopper, and an electronic control unit configured to control the actuator. The electronic control unit is configured to execute first control for setting the thrust of the actuator to a thrust in a first region, and, when a halfway stopped state has occurred through the first control, execute second control for setting a thrust larger than the thrust in the first control. The first region is a range in which the thrust is larger than an urging force of the return spring and is smaller than the sum of the urging force of the return spring and a maximum urging force of the transmission spring.

CONTROL APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE

A vehicle includes a continuously variable transmission, a gear mechanism and a controller. The continuously variable transmission and the gear mechanism are provided in parallel with each other between an input shaft and an output shaft. The controller is configured to i) when the vehicle travels in a state where both a first clutch and a third clutch provided on the gear mechanism side are released, gradually increase a hydraulic pressure of the first clutch such that the first clutch is engaged, ii) calculate a command hydraulic pressure for setting the first clutch to a pressure regulating state on the basis of a command hydraulic pressure of the first clutch at a timing at which the amount of change in an output-side rotation speed of the first clutch becomes larger than a predetermined value, and iii) control the first clutch by using the calculated command hydraulic pressure.

A launch control method of a vehicle includes: a clutch hold step of maintaining a clutch torque until an engine torque becomes smaller than the clutch torque, when a driver releases an accelerator pedal during launch control; a time constant determination step in which a time constant for a rate of releasing the clutch torque is determined depending on a difference between the clutch torque and a target creep torque when the engine torque becomes smaller than the clutch torque; a filter processing step of processing the time constant and the target creep torque using a low-pass filter that has the time constant and the target creep torque as an input and has a nominal clutch torque as an output; and a clutch control step of controlling a clutch using the nominal clutch torque.
