Mechanically damped pull then lift hold open rod mechanism
A hold open rod is configured to provide switched damping movement includes an inner tube assembly coupled to an outer tube assembly, the inner tube assembly movable within the outer tube assembly. The hold open rod also includes a damping mechanism configured to damp movement of the outer tube assembly with respect to the inner tube assembly.
FRICTIONAL DAMPER
A frictional damper comprises a housing which has a longitudinal axis, a plunger which can be moved along the longitudinal axis, a frictional unit for generating a frictional force on the plunger, the frictional unit comprising at least one friction lining for bearing rubbingly against the plunger, and a friction lining carrier, on which the at least one friction lining is held, the friction lining carrier being arranged such that it can be moved relative to the plunger in the housing between a pulled-out position and a pushed-in position, and a pulled-out friction acting in the pulled-out position, which pulled-out friction is different from the pushed-in friction which acts in the pushed-in position.
Movement-damping unit and spring unit comprising a movement-damping unit of this type
The invention relates to a movement-damping unit (30) comprising a receiving tube (32) having a longitudinal axis (A), a relative movement unit (34) which is received in the receiving tube (32) and which is displaceable back and forth relative to the receiving tube (32) substantially in the direction of the longitudinal axis (A), and a friction device (41) acting between the receiving tube (32) and the relative movement unit (34). According to the invention, the friction device (41) comprises at least one switching element (44, 48) assigned to the relative movement unit (34) and having an engagement portion (48a) formed so as to widen radially in the direction of the longitudinal axis (A), wherein at least one resiliently compressible friction element (46, 50), which comprises a recess (50a) intended for engagement with the engagement portion (48a) and is arranged on the longitudinal face of smaller diameter of the switching element (44, 48), is assigned to each switching element (44, 48).
HEAT EXCHANGER FOR COOLED COOLING AIR WITH ADJUSTABLE DAMPER
A heat exchanger (HEX) for cooling air in a gas turbine engine is provided. An adjustable damper is provided. The adjustable damper may be for damping a movement of the HEX relative to the gas turbing engine. An adjustable damper may comprise: a first tube; a second tube located at least partially within the first tube; a housing coupled to the second tube; a moveable member, the moveable member comprising a contacting surface in contact with the second tube; an adjusting member adjustably coupled to the housing; and a spring member located between the moveable member and the adjusting member, the spring member configured to at least one of compress or decompress in response to adjusting member moving relative to the housing.
Smooth transient excursion non-resonant (STEN-R) damper
A device for an extensible and compressible friction-based damper which selectively resists stroking in a first direction while freely sliding in the opposite direction. Resistance is proportional to an adjustable and pre-settable value, which provides and adjustable static-hold capability. Sliding resistance being substantially independent of the relative position, velocity, acceleration or jerk (d3x/dt3) imposed upon it. Dampers according to the present disclosure can eliminate resonance amplification when combined with other conventional suspension components. The damper may be used in applications such as isolation mounts. Also disclosed is a method for a high-performance isolation mount to protect a Payload (persons or equipment) from mechanical shock and vibration, incorporating one or more dampers according to the present disclosure together with one or more elastic elements. A device made according to the present disclosure is dubbed a Smooth Transient Excursion Non-Resonant (STEN-R) Damper.
