20240042282 · 2024-02-08 ·

A combination climbing apparatus (1) comprising or including a rope ascender (5) and a pulley block (6), the rope ascender having front (19) and rear (21) plates disposed in generally parallel relationship, a first swivel pin (11) being received within co-axial bores in the front and rear plates, about which pin the plates are swivelable with respect to each other, a cam lever (9) mounted on the first swivel pin between the front and rear plates, the cam lever being connected, directly or indirectly, to a climbing rope braking surface (10) on a cam between the front and rear plates, the cam lever being operable to trap the rope against the cam braking surface, the front and rear plates each including a second bore (22,23) remote from the major axis of the first swivel pin for receiving a second, removable, swivel pin (29), a pulley block releasably the ascender and pulley block may be selectively used in combination when required or separately when not. The invention also extends in a second aspect to a pulley block for use in a combination climbing apparatus according to the first aspect of the invention, or separately.

Rope gripper
20190376580 · 2019-12-12 ·

A rope gripping apparatus and methods for its use. The rope gripper has a spring acting on a cam which causes the cam to rotate about a fixed point from an open position to a closed position. When a rope is present in the apparatus the cam will contact and grip the rope when pulled in one direction, yet let the rope slide freely when pushed in the opposite direction. The cam can easily be opened for loading the rope by pressing the cam's thumb lever or by simply sliding the apparatus' channel opening and the cam against a taut rope. The cam can have two separate gripping profiles (teeth) on the peripheral edges to effectively grip a variety of rope diameters. The cam also has a retaining ridge built in which acts as a retaining wall to keep the rope retained inside of the channel during operation.

Adjustable release lanyard

A lanyard assembly for an evacuation system may comprise a lanyard body and a pin housing. The lanyard body may comprise an actuator connect portion, a pin housing connect portion, and a center member extending between the actuator connect portion and the pin housing connect portion. The pin housing may be slidably coupled to the pin housing connect portion of the lanyard body.

STAKE WITH CORD LOCK

This disclosure relates generally to a safety apparatus on a rope, comprising a housing for guiding the rope, a clamping element such as a trigger designed to release and clamp the rope against the housing, and a control element, wherein the control element comprises a rope sensor able to be actuated, which enables movement of the trigger to an active, clamped position thus halting the rope between the trigger and a housing.

A LINE ASCENDER
20190329098 · 2019-10-31 ·

A line ascender for enabling a person to ascend a line including a receiver which tapers laterally to the line to receive the line laterally and a clamp provided for clamping the received line responsive to weight of the person. Advantageously, an errant rope can be readily received within the tapered receiver for re-engagement by the clamp.

Cable securing device

A cable securing device facilitates secure connection to a cabling end, and employs a retaining cap, a compression member, a barrel with a tapered interior wall and a fastening device.

Cord lock

A cord lock has a housing with an interior cavity and an opening extending between the front and the back for receiving a cord, and an actuator having two legs that are configured to slide within the interior cavity of the housing. A spring is disposed between the housing and the actuator to bias the actuator in a raised position relative to the housing. There is a cam disposed in the interior cavity of the housing. The bottom of the cam is rotatably connected to the housing and the top is rotatably connected to the legs of the actuator. In a resting position, the spring presses the top of the cam against the housing such that when a cord is extended through the opening, the cam locks the cord in place between the cam and the housing. Depressing the actuator compresses the spring and rotates the cam.

IMPROVED GRIPPING DEVICE

A gripping device comprises: at least two end walls located at opposing ends of the device; at least one elongate channel for receiving an elongate element, the longitudinal axis of the or each channel extending between the two end walls; a gripping element; and biasing means for bringing the gripping element into engagement with an elongate element located in the said channel. The gripping element is mounted for translational movement in a slot. A force component exerted on an elongate element located in the said channel causes the gripping element to move in the slot at towards the elongate element. Each end wall includes at least one hole therethrough, a first hole for receipt of an elongate element into the said channel and a second hole for exit of said elongate element from said channel.

CORD LOCK

A cord lock includes a female member having a first opening, a second opening, and an insertion passage for a string; and a male member entering one portion into the insertion passage from the first opening, and having, at the one portion, a male-side fastening portion to be fastened to the string inserted to pass through the insertion passage in cooperation with a female-side fastening portion formed inside the insertion passage. Fastening relative to the string is released by a pulling operation of reducing an entering amount of one portion of the male member into the insertion passage relative to the female member by gripping the string pulled out of the first opening, and by a pulling operation of reducing an entering amount of one portion of the male member into the insertion passage relative to the male member by gripping the string pulled out of the second opening.
