An engine disconnect device for a vehicle includes a first one-way clutch (OWC) with concentric inner and outer races and torque elements interposed between and transferring torque across these races in a first direction. The first outer race rigidly attaches to a damper plate for common rotation therewith, and the first inner race rigidly attaches to a pump cover of a torque converter for common rotation therewith. A second OWC, which concentrically aligns within the first OWC, includes concentric inner and outer races with torque elements interposed between and transferring torque across these races in a second direction. The second outer race is splined to the first inner race for common rotation with the pump cover. The second inner race rigidly attaches to the damper plate for common rotation therewith.

Torque converter assembly and a vehicle including the torque converter assembly

A torque converter assembly includes a pump and a turbine fluidly connected together. A vehicle includes the assembly operable between an output shaft of an engine and an input member of a transmission. The assembly includes a damper and a clutch operable between the pump and the turbine. The damper is operable upstream from the clutch such that oscillation from the pump is reduced by the damper before oscillation reaches the clutch. The clutch includes first and second plates and a friction plate disposed between the first and second plates. The assembly includes a casing that contains the pump, the turbine, the damper and the clutch. A first part of the casing and the first plate define a first chamber. A first part of the turbine and the second plate define a second chamber. The clutch between the first and second plates defines a third chamber.

Torque converter system for a vehicle

A torque converter system of a vehicle for delivering an input torque to a transmission may include a front cover of a torque converter receiving the input torque through a torque receiving shaft, an impeller of the torque converter receiving the input torque through the front cover, a turbine of the torque converter disposed opposed to and coaxially with the impeller and rotated by an operation fluid supplied from the impeller thereby driving a transmission input shaft, a reactor of the torque converter disposed between the impeller and the turbine and redirecting the operation fluid from the turbine toward the impeller, and a lock-up clutch disposed inside a transmission to selectively connecting the front cover and the turbine.

Drive unit for vehicles

A vehicle drive unit to prevent a single phase lock of a motor as a prime mover to limit damage is provided. The drive unit includes: a first transmission route to deliver drive force of an engine to drive wheels; and a second transmission route to deliver drive force of a motor to the drive wheels. The second transmission route comprises an intermediate shaft that transmits the drive force of the motor to the first transmission route. A fluid coupling is disposed between the motor and the intermediate shaft. A lockup clutch is arranged parallel to the fluid coupling between the motor and the intermediate shaft.

A torque converter transmits a torque from a drive source to an input shaft of a transmission. The torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller, a turbine and a lock-up device. The torque is inputted to the front cover. The impeller is fixed to the front cover. The turbine is disposed in opposition to the impeller, and is coupled to the input shaft of the transmission. The lock-up device mechanically transmits the torque from the front cover to the turbine. The lock-up device includes a piston, a damper mechanism and a friction generating mechanism. The piston is disposed between the front cover and the turbine so as to be axially movable, and is capable of being engaged by friction with the turbine. The damper mechanism transmits the torque from the front cover to the piston. The friction generating mechanism generates a hysteresis torque on the piston by frictional resistance.
