Pest control system and method
A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location, providing for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a cylindrical upper portion and a lower portion continuously co-axially formed with the upper portion. The lower portion is formed as blades meeting at a lowermost point and defining a sharp bottom point that helps penetrate the soil in the selected location. A plurality of cellulose-containing bait units are detachably fitted in the lower portion and the upper portion. The bait units fitted in the lower portion are retained by the blade portions, which engage radial slots of the bait units. A moisture-retaining member is positioned in the upper portion above an uppermost of the bait units. A removable cap frictionally fittingly engages with the upper portion. The cap has an opening allowing water to be poured into the main body to moisten the bait units and make them more attractive to foraging insects. If consumption of the cellulose material is detected, the bait units may be substituted with a bait material containing poisonous substance. The pests consume the bait and carry the poison to the colonies.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING A BAIT
The invention relates to an apparatus 1 for holding a bait 2 for pests, in particular rodents and/or insects, comprising a housing part 3 that can be inserted into a manhole, in particular a sewer manhole or a cable duct shaft, said part comprising at least one receiving space 5 which is delimited by at least one wall, in particular at least one housing part wall, wherein at least one passage opening 9 is designed in the at least one wall, an animal being able to pass through said opening to at least one bait 2 disposed in the receiving space 5.
PEST CONTROL AND DETECTION SYSTEM WITH CONDUCTIVE BAIT MATRIX
A pest control and detection system generally includes an electrically conductive bait matrix including at least one carrier material that is at least one of palatable, a phagostimulant, consumable, and displaceable by pests, and a plurality of electrically conductive particles. The electrically conductive particles are substantially randomly interspersed throughout the at least one carrier material. The at least one carrier material includes at least one of a thermoplastic material and a resin.
SYSTEM, APPARATUS, AND METHOD FOR SUBTERRANEAN TERMITE CONTROL
An improved system, apparatus, and method for use in controlling subterranean termite populations are described. It is determined whether one or more of the sensor characteristics in one or more of the underground soil regions are indicative of a subterranean termite population exceeding a threshold. Based on the determining, a treatment need is identified for the one or more underground soil regions. The treatment need is executed at regions corresponding to the one or more underground soil regions.
Roll for Assembling a Device For Detection And Elimination Of Insects Such As Bed Bugs
A roll for assembling a device (2) for detection and elimination of pest insects includes a wound up, continuous band of fibrous material, the band having a main portion (22) and a first flap folded thereover, wherein at least one aperture (35) is arranged in the main portion along at least part of the length of the continuous band, the face facing away from the first flap such that the adhesive strip completely covers over the at least one aperture, the aperture being at least partially filled with an insecticide in powder form. The roll may include a second flap, wherein the first flap and the second flap at least partially overlap and the second flap is sandwiched between the main portion and the first flap.
Articles of Manufacture And Related Methods To Create Insect Barriers
Embodiments of the present invention are directed, inter alia, to novel methods for producing substrates and articles of manufacture that possess a passive barrier to the passage of crawling insects and the related substrates and articles of manufacture. An exemplary article of manufacture can be a pet food bowl, a pet food container, a kitchen cupboard, a trash receptacle, a garbage receptacle, a foundation of a structure, a bee hive, a bird feeder, a plate, a bowl or a pedestal suitable for cake, cupcakes or other food item. The crawling insects can be, for example, an ant (leaf eater, Argentine, carpenter, pharaoh, fire), a spider, a cockroach, a bed bug, termites, an aphid, an arthropod, a tick, a flea, a silver fish, a thrip, a gnat, an aphid, a Japanese beetle, a beetle (potato and bean), a flea beetle, a fleahopper, a squash bug, a slug, a leaf hopper, a harlequin bug, a milk weed bug, a mite, a louse, a scorpion, a millipede, a centipede or a gypsy moth.
TERMITE PREFERRED RESOURCE COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS
The present invention relates to termite preferred resource compositions and methods. In embodiments, the present invention is directed to termite preferred resource compositions including materials from a Sabal palm tree material (Sabalpalmetto; Family Arecaceae) and a pesticide toxic to one or more species of termites. In additional embodiment's, the present invention is directed to a method of creating a termite assurance program to limit termite damage to a structure including the steps of providing an initial investigation of termite detection, damage, or activity for a structure; placing a termite station comprising a housing, at least one entry point in the housing allowing for ingress and egress of a termite, and materials from a Sabal palm tree contained within the housing in an area proximate the structure, and inspecting the termite station for live termites or evidence of termite activity after it is placed.
METHOD FOR PREPARING AN OPTIMUM DENSITY TERMITE BAIT COMPOSITION
A composition in compacted form for use for termite monitoring and control comprises a cellulose material which may be purified cellulose or micro-crystalline cellulose as a base bait, the composition being compacted to an optimum density of not less than approximately 1.033 g/cc. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring and controlling termite infestations which comprises the steps of a) preparing such a composition; b) placing the composition in a bait station; c) monitoring the station at periodic time intervals for termites; and d) upon observing termite infestation in the bait station, replacing the above composition with a bait composition containing a termite killing agent.
System and methods for pest reduction
The present invention includes a new type of bait for wood-targeting pest baiting systems and methods of obtaining the bait. Certain embodiments of the present invention include a blue-stained wood either treated with a solution that includes blue-stain fungi or wood naturally infected with blue-stain fungi. Additional embodiments of the present invention include a blue-stained solution that may be applied to a wood substrate or to a non-wood bait matrix.
Device for detection and elimination of insects such as bed bugs
A device (2) for detection and elimination of pest insects includes a structure (20) having a main portion (22) adapted to engage with a supporting surface. The main portion has an associated edge (23), the main portion partially engaging with the supporting surface. A first flap (24) is attached to the main portion, a first flap edge (28) being associated with the first flap. The edges (23, 28) define an opening (33) for allowing entry of an insect such as a bed bug into an interior of the structure (20). At least one aperture (35) is arranged in the main portion. A double-sided adhesive strip (36) has an upper face (30) arranged on a face of the main portion. The adhesive strip completely covers the face of the aperture. An insecticide (34) in powder form at least partially fills the at least one aperture arranged in the main portion.
