The groove and the axis of rotation are at least partially skewed to each other. The retainer plate is arranged at least partially on a first side of a first plane and on a first side of a second plane. The first plane and the second plane intersect along the axis of rotation. All planet bolts fixed in the planet carrier each lie on a second side of the first plane and/or the second plane.
Optimized harmonic drive
An optimized harmonic drive (“OHD”) includes a wave generator, a flex spline, and a circular rigid spline. The wave generator includes a wave generator contour that minimizes a velocity profile of the wave generator during a high load condition. The flex spline is attached to the wave generator and the circular rigid spline is mechanically engaged to the flex spline. The flex spline includes a plurality of flex spline teeth and the circular rigid spline includes a plurality of rigid spline teeth. The plurality of rigid spline teeth is greater than the plurality of flex spline teeth and the high load condition exists when the rigid spline teeth of the plurality of rigid spline teeth are fully engaged with flex spline teeth of the plurality of flex spline teeth.
Integral Multistage Ring Gear Systems for Aircraft
A drivetrain for an aircraft includes an engine, a driveshaft to receive rotational energy from the engine and a gearbox including a multistage planetary gear system to receive rotational energy from the driveshaft. The multistage planetary gear system includes an integral multistage ring gear system having flanged and cantilevered ends. The integral multistage ring gear system forms a first stage ring gear at the cantilevered end and a second stage ring gear interposed between the flanged end and the first stage ring gear. The multistage planetary gear system includes a first stage sun gear, first stage planet gears and a first stage carrier. The first stage planet gears mate with the first stage ring gear. The multistage planetary gear system includes a second stage sun gear, second stage planet gears and a second stage carrier. The second stage planet gears mate with the second stage ring gear.
Clutch carrier assembly for a transmission
A clutch carrier assembly for a transmission is disclosed that comprises a clutch carrier and a ring gear carrier. The clutch carrier includes a plurality of tabs and the ring gear carrier includes a plurality of openings defined in, and extending through, an outer surface. The ring gear carrier is disposed within the clutch carrier. Each of the tabs is received within a corresponding one of the openings such that the ring gear carrier and the clutch carrier are held together.
