Improved rotary switch systems and methods are disclosed. Such systems and methods may be used in vehicles that implement shift-by-wire transmission systems. The switch systems and methods may include programmable end-stops and/or variable tactile feedback.

Shifting device for vehicle

A shifting device in which a selected shift position can be confirmed easily, and which can be fitted easily in vehicles. The shifting device comprises: a restriction member that restricts a movement of a shift lever into a predetermined shift slot in a first shifting mode, and that cancels the restriction of the movement of the shift lever in a second shifting mode; and an indicator that indicates a first pattern when the first shifting mode is selected, and that indicates a second pattern when the second shifting mode is selected.

A drive gear is selected from a drive gear set and set on a transmission and upon going above a rotational speed upper limit a drive gear with a larger gearing ratio and upon going below a rotational speed lower limit a drive gear with a smaller gearing ratio is selected from the drive gear set and set on the transmission. In a normal operating mode, the drive gear set corresponds to a normal operation drive gear set having a plurality of different drive gears, and the rotational speed upper limit corresponds to a normal operation rotational speed upper limit and the rotational speed lower limit corresponds to a normal operation rotational speed lower limit. In an alternative operating mode the drive gear set corresponds to an alternative operation drive gear set, having a smaller number of different drive gears than the normal operation drive gear set.

A multi-function vehicle control for a vehicle having an interior surface and a transmission, the control including a shifter movable to different positions corresponding to different states of the transmission, and an elongate base extending from the interior surface laterally across a fore-aft direction of the vehicle and defining a driver-facing side. The elongate base movably supports the shifter for multiple movements of the shifter relative to the elongate base including: a first movement of the shifter along a longitudinal direction of the elongate base operable to control a first operation of the transmission; a second movement of the shifter away from the driver-facing side, in a forward vehicle travel direction operable to control a second operation of the transmission; and a third movement of the shifter toward the driver-facing side, in a rearward vehicle travel direction operable to control a third operation of the transmission.

MULTI-MODE CVT CONTROLLER

A control system for a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is provided. The control system includes a shift mode switch, an actuator and a controller. The shift mode switch is selectable between a plurality of modes. The actuator is in operational communication with the CVT to selectively override normal shifting characteristics of the CVT. The controller is in communication with the shift mode switch. The controller is configured to control the actuator to selectively override the normal shifting characteristics of the CVT based at least in part on a select mode configuration selected by the shift mode switch.

Shifter assembly

A shifter assembly selects a first mode and a second mode of a transmission for a vehicle. The shifter assembly includes a housing and a shift lever movably coupled to the housing and pivotable relative to the housing. The shift lever includes a body and a cap defining an aperture and being coupled to the body. The cap is rotatable relative to the body between a first and a second orientations. The shift lever further includes a toggle device partially received by the cap in the aperture with at least a portion of the toggle device being moveably coupled to the body between a rest and a depressed positions. The shift lever further includes an element mounted to the toggle device and rotatable with the cap between the first and the second orientations. The shift lever further includes a sensor system configured to interact with the element to detect rotation of the cap between the first and the second orientations.

DECELERATION CONTROL DEVICE OF VEHICLE

A shift lever is configured to take deceleration-requesting positions through its operation in a specified direction from an M-range position for a manual mode. A control is configured such that vehicle's deceleration is larger when an operational quantity of a one-time operation of the shift lever operated toward the deceleration-requesting positions B1, B2, B3 is larger. For example, when the shift lever is operated to the position B1, one-stage shift down is performed, when the shift lever is operated to the position B2, two-stage shift down is performed, and when the shift lever is operated to the position B3, three-stage shift down is performed.
