A vehicle control device including an electronically controlled throttle device and configured to control a vehicle for supplying a hydraulic pressure to a friction engaging element of a transmission on the basis of a throttle valve opening controls a start timing of a supply of the hydraulic pressure to the friction engaging element on the basis of an accelerator pedal opening and the throttle valve opening if a shift lever is changed from an advance position to a reverse position or from the reverse position to the advance position.

An exemplary drive selector includes a housing, a cam positioned in the housing, a follower coupled to a shaft and in contact with the cam, and a biasing member urging the cam toward the follower. One of the cam and the follower includes at least one protrusion, and the other of the cam and the follower includes a plurality of recesses configured to receive the protrusion. When the protrusion is received in the recess, the force provided by the biasing member resists relative rotation of the cam and the follower.

Some embodiments of the present invention provide a control system for a motor vehicle having a first user-operable transmission selector means for selecting a forward operating mode of a transmission corresponding to travel in a forward direction and a reverse operating mode of a transmission corresponding to travel in a reverse direction opposite the forward direction, the control system comprising: a user-operable gear selector configured in a first functional mode to, upon receipt of a user input, select between a plurality of forward direction gear ratios, and wherein the user-operable gear selector is re-configured in a second functional mode to, upon receipt of a user input, select between the forward operating mode and the reverse operating mode.

A method for controlling rollback of a work vehicle may include receiving a signal indicating that a pedal of the work vehicle has been depressed, wherein the work vehicle is initially traveling in a first direction up an inclined surface such that at least one clutch of the transmission is engaged. In addition, the method may include reducing a pressure within the at least one clutch after receiving the signal in order to decelerate the work vehicle in the first direction and engaging a parking brake of the work vehicle as the work vehicle reverses direction and travels in a second direction down the inclined surface.

An arrangement for releasing a travel drive of an agricultural tractor includes a transmission controller for engaging a travel gear by activating at least one associated clutch device, and a monitoring device, which releases the engagement of the travel gear on the part of the transmission controller when it determines the presence of a corresponding driver intention on the basis of the actuating state of at least one travel operating element.
