The hinge assembly may include an inner bracket operably coupled with the inner boom section and a mounting plate, an outer bracket operably coupled with the breakaway section frame, a hinge pin operably coupled with the outer bracket, and a bore operably coupled with the mounting plate and surrounding the hinge pin. A damper system may be operably coupled with the inner bracket and the outer bracket. At least a portion of the inner bracket is positioned above the damper system.

BIDIRECTIONAL BOOM HINGE FOR BOOM SPREADER

A boom spreader has at least one boom comprising a main boom section and an end boom section. A connecting plate is situated between the main boom section and the end boom section, the connecting plate rotatably mounted on the main boom section through a first pivot defining a folding axis. The end boom section is pivotably mounted on the connecting plate through a second pivot defining a breakaway axis, the breakaway axis non-perpendicular to the folding axis and tilted at an angle in a range of 1-45 from horizontal. An actuator connected to the main boom section and the connecting plates folds the end boom section between an operating and a transport position. A reset assembly connected to the end boom section and the connecting plate returns the end boom section to the operating position after the end boom section is deflected to a breakaway position.

An agricultural boom assembly may include an inner boom section and a breakaway boom section. The damper system may include a cylinder configured to house a piston and a rod coupled to the piston and extending from the cylinder. The cylinder may define a piston-side chamber and a rod-side chamber within the cylinder. A pressure reducing-reliving valve may be fluidly coupled with the piston-side chamber and the rod-side chamber. A flow control valve may be positioned between the pressure reducing-reliving valve and the rod-side chamber. A relief valve may be positioned in parallel with the flow control valve.

An agricultural applicator includes a chassis and a boom assembly supported by the chassis. The boom assembly includes a lift arm assembly and a boom arm supported by the lift arm assembly. The boom arm includes a first boom section pivotable between folded and extended positions about a first pivot joint defining a first axis of rotation and a second boom section coupled to the first and pivotable between folded and extend positions about a second pivot joint relative to the first. The second pivot joint defines a second axis of rotation different from the first. Furthermore, the boom arm includes nozzles positioned along the boom sections for applying agricultural product to the field. Moreover, the boom arm includes a transport lock to be received within a bounded opening for limiting pivoting of the second boom section to the extent of the opening when the first boom section is folded.
