Acid free glyoxal as fixative for histological preparations
11204305 · 2021-12-21 · ·

The invention refers to a composition for the fixation of histological preparations, comprising a solution of glyoxal, wherefrom acids, normally present in the commercially available glyoxal, have been removed. The composition of the invention provides an optimal fixative for the preservation of structure, antigenic components and nucleic acids in tissues. The acid-free glyoxal has limited toxicity, is not considered as a carcinogenic agent and represents a valid alternative to formalin for the fixation of tissues and cells.

NEUTRAL MULTIDOMAIN PEPTIDE HYDROGELS AND USES THEREOF

Provided herein are peptide-based hydrogels, or neutral multidomain peptide hydrogel (NMDP), as well as uses thereof. The uses include encapsulating cells to induce quiescence for long-term storage and administering to a subject to induce collagen deposition and macrophage infiltration. The disclosed hydrogel is useful for the preservation of stem cells, including maintaining their quiescence and differentiation potential.

System and method for paper-based cryopreservation

A system and method for cryopreservation of cells or spheroids of cells including obtaining a suspension of the isolated mammalian cells in a medium; applying the suspension to a fibrous substrate comprising a network of interconnected cellulosic fibers defining a plurality of pores therein and allowing the suspension to absorb into the fibrous substrate such that the isolated mammalian cells penetrate and settle to an interior of the fibrous substrate; and cooling the fibrous substrate to or below a temperature of −80° C.

Viable disc regenerative composition and method of manufacture and use

A viable disc regenerative composition has a micronized material of nucleus pulposus and a biological composition made from a mixture of mechanically selected allogeneic biologic material derived from bone marrow having non-whole cellular components including vesicular components and active and inactive components of biological activity, cell fragments, cellular excretions, cellular derivatives, and extracellular components; and wherein the mixture is compatible with biologic function and further includes non-expanded whole cells. The biological composition is predisposed to demonstrate or support elaboration of active volume or spatial geometry consistent in morphology with that of disc tissue. The viable disc regenerative composition extends regenerative resonance that compliments or mimics disc tissue complexity.

The present invention relates to a method for cryopreserving and thawing an organ-on-a-chip that has a three-dimensional tissue structure and function. Specifically, the present invention relates to a method for cryopreserving and thawing an organ-on-a-chip that comprises cells and hydrogel and has a microchannel structure, whereby the organ-on-a-chip has an excellent effect of being able to maintain the structure and function of the three-dimensional tissue before and after cryopreservation and thawing.

ANIMAL TISSUE PRESERVATION AND STORAGE FOR MEDICAL USE
20220125041 · 2022-04-28 ·

A method for treating tissue to form a dry tissue component that is readily rehydrated and does not require rinsing prior to implantation in the human body. The method comprises pretreatment and fixation steps that include penetrating agent molecules having a flexible backbone and at least one polar group; the steps further include cations and anions to enhance integration of penetration agent molecules into and bonding to tissue component structural molecules to provide resistance to cracking of the dry tissue component during bending.

Cryopreservation compositions and methods involving nanowarming

A cryopreservation composition generally includes a cryoprotective agent and a laser absorber that includes a metal. Rewarming a cryopreserved specimen that includes the cryopreservation composition includes subjecting the cryopreserved specimen to a laser pulse effective to heat the laser absorber sufficiently to thaw the cryopreserved biospecimen.
