SEAL
20200393045 · 2020-12-17 ·

The disclosure concerns a seal, in particular a rod seal for sealing an axially movable rod in a guide cylinder, in particular a piston seal for a pneumatically, electrically or hydraulically driven coating agent pump for pumping coating agent, having an annular sealing element for sealingly resting on a circumferential surface of an axially movable rod, and having at least one elastic annular pretensioning element, the annular pretensioning element surrounding the annular sealing element radially on the outside and pretensioning it radially to the inside. The disclosure provides an annular seal base body which externally surrounds and holds the sealing element and the pretensioning element. In addition, the disclosure also comprises an inverted variant in which the seal is arranged in an annular groove in a lateral surface of a piston and lies sealingly against the cylinder running surface.

SEAL ARRANGEMENT

A seal arrangement includes: a first sealing element, which is radially pre-loaded and rests against and seals a machine element; and a second sealing element, which is arranged concentrically to the first sealing element and radially presses the first sealing element against the machine element. The first sealing element and the second sealing element are received in a housing bore of a housing. The first sealing element and the second sealing element seal a gap between the housing bore and the machine element. The first sealing element and the second sealing element are flat in a radial plane, at least on an end face facing a space to be sealed, and aligned with each other.

Face seal arrangement

A carbon seal assembly may comprise a seal support, a seal housing coupled to the seal support, and a carbon seal adjacent an aft portion of the seal housing. The carbon seal may comprise a nose defined by an axial surface of the carbon seal, a first radial surface of the carbon seal, and a second radial surface of the carbon seal radially inward of the first radial surface. The first radial surface and the second radial surface may extend forward from the axial surface. A first axial length of the first radial surface may be greater than a second axial length of the second radial surface.
