A mechanical seal includes a drive ring having an axially extending drive element and a seal face with an outer substantially cylindrical surface that is provided with a corresponding radially reduced portion that is can be engaged by the drive element, in which the radially reduced portion is a flat surface that is, in transverse section a chord, and the drive element is provided with a flat surface that can engage with the flat surface of the radially reduced portion during driving rotation of the seal face by the drive ring.

Mechanical seal

An end surface-contact mechanical seal providing a shielding seal between a liquid area (A) and an atmospheric area (B) by a relative rotation, while in a contact state, of opposing end surfaces (4a, 6a) of a case-side sealing ring (4), which is fixed to a seal case, and a ceramic shaft-side sealing ring (6), which is held on the sleeve (22) of a rotary shaft (2). A rubber O-ring (5) is installed between a sealing ring-side seal surface (63a), which is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the shaft-side sealing ring (6), and a shaft-side seal surface (22c), which is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve (22), so as to be relatively movable in the axial direction while sealing the surfaces. A diamond film (14a) is formed over the entire surface of the sealing ring-side seal surface (63a).

A sealing system includes a housing defining a bore having an internal surface. A rotatable shaft is rotatably disposed in the bore and includes an annular groove disposed in an exterior surface of the rotatable shaft. The annular groove includes a groove bottom and a pair of lateral sidewalls. A seal is formed as a cylindrical annular thermoplastic body having an axial length greater than an axial length of the annular groove and which is bent into a V-shaped cross-section and received in the annular groove so that opposite ends of the seal are disposed in opposite bottom corners of the annular groove. A peak portion of the V-shaped cross section extends radially outward of the annular groove and is engaged with the internal surface of the bore.

A seal assembly for a turbine engine extends along a center axis and includes a seal support and a seal carrier configured to translate relative the seal support. A seal is connected to the seal carrier and a spring is disposed between the seal support and the seal carrier. A spring carrier is disposed between the spring and the seal support. A first end of the spring is connected to the spring carrier and the spring carrier is connected to the seal support. The spring includes a second end disposed opposite the first end of the spring. The second end of the spring contacts the annular seal carrier.

SEAL ASSEMBLY

A seal assembly for sealing an annular space between a first cylindrical surface and a second cylindrical surface. The annular space has high pressure zones and low pressure zones. The seal assembly has an annular seal with an inner surface that faces the second cylindrical component, an outer surface that faces the first cylindrical component, a sealing end and an engagement end. A seal actuator assembly applies a force to the engagement end of the annular seal to urge the annular seal in a first direction towards an engaged position within the annular space. The force applied to the engagement end of the annular seal has a first component aligned with the first direction and a second component that is perpendicular to the first direction. The first component is at least 1.7 times greater than the second component.

MECANICAL SEAL

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mechanical seal in which a stationary-side sealing ring can follow the movement of a rotating-side sealing ring to provide reliable sealing properties and by which the entire device can be made compact.

A mechanical seal in which a rotating-side sealing ring 13 attached to a shaft 2 and a stationary-side sealing ring 21 attached to a housing 3 slide relative to each other and seal between the housing 3 and the shaft 2 includes a case 22 which is attached to the housing 3 and which contains the stationary-side sealing ring 21, and a seal member 23 which is disposed between the case 22 and the stationary-side sealing ring 21, and the case 22 includes a holding part 22d which regulates the seal member 23 from moving to both sides in the axial direction thereof.

Carbon seal spring retention

A seal assembly for a turbine engine extends along a center axis and includes a seal support and a seal carrier configured to translate relative the seal support. A seal is connected to the seal carrier and a spring is disposed between the seal support and the seal carrier. A spring carrier is disposed between the spring and the seal support. A first end of the spring is connected to the spring carrier and the spring carrier is connected to the seal support. The spring includes a second end disposed opposite the first end of the spring. The second end of the spring contacts the annular seal carrier.

Dry gas seal cooling arrangement and method

The shaft seal arrangement for a rotating turbomachine shaft having a rotation axis, comprises a rotor part and a stationary part. A dry gas seal is further provided, in combination with a cooling fluid volume arranged for receiving a cooling fluid and in heat exchange relationship with the dry gas seal. A venting arrangement collectively vents exhaust cooling fluid and dry sealing gas from the shaft seal arrangement.

Material supply system with valve assembly

A material supply assembly includes a valve assembly having an outer valve member and an inner valve member rotatable relative to the outer valve member. A base assembly includes an base structure and an actuator. An engagement structure is operative between the outer valve member and the actuator to prevent relative movement between the outer valve member and the actuator. A locking structure is operative between the inner valve member and the base structure to prevent relative movement between the inner valve member and the base structure. Movement of the actuator relative to the base structure moves the outer valve member relative to the inner valve member to operate the valve assembly.
