Embodiments of the invention provide a novel band clamp insulation system for ensuring a tight insulation around a pipe during extended operation of the system and mitigating adverse effects of differential thermal expansion. The band clamp insulation system typically comprises a band clamp for securing insulation around the pipe and a securing member fixed to the pipe. The band clamp insulation system further comprises a coupling member for fastening the band clamp and the coupling member together.

A Method of Making a Fluid Conduit
20220280991 · 2022-09-08 ·

A method of making a fluid conduit includes at least one tubular metal fitting in fluid communication with metal tubing. The conduit is apt to be incorporated into a subsea umbilical. The fitting is made by cold-forming a workpiece in a spinning operation. The workpiece material initially has a yield strength below that of the tubing material. The invention corrects or reduces this mismatch between the yield strength of the tubing material and the initial yield strength of the workpiece material by: assessing the yield strength of the tubing material; assessing the increased yield strength of the workpiece material by virtue of the spinning operation; and before welding the fitting to the tubing, comparing the increased yield strength of the workpiece material with the yield strength of the tubing material.

A hose assembly includes a metal hose, an end connection having a distal end defining a fluid connector and a proximal end defining a tube stub received in a distal end portion of the hose, and a weld collar surrounding the distal end portion of the hose and the tube stub of the end connection, with the weld collar, the hose distal end portion, and the tube stub being welded together at a welding zone proximal to a distal edge of the metal hose.

DUAL METAL ADAPTER

An assembly includes at least one member having first and second ends. A dual metal adapter for connecting to the at least one member includes an inner tube for receiving and contacting the first end of the at least one member and being formed from a first metal having a first resistivity. An outer tube extends over the inner tube and is secured thereto. The outer tube is formed from a second metal having a second resistivity greater than the first resistivity. The first end of the at least one member is metallurgically bonded to the inner tube.

SEISMIC PIPE JOINT
20210041053 · 2021-02-11 · ·

A pipe joint has a first pipe having an end portion and a first pipe wall thickness, and a second pipe having an end portion. The end portion of the first pipe is welded to the end portion of the second pipe to seal the joint between the first pipe and the second pipe. The first pipe has an outwardly-extending, buckle-inducing deformation that is spaced apart from the pipe joint. A crest height of the deformation is 500% or less of the first pipe wall thickness.

Sealing joint for low pressure pipe systems and method of manufacture

A method and sealing gasket are shown for providing a sealing joint between a spigot section and a socket section of low pressure plastic pipe, such as drain waste vent pipe that require a minimum of tools and operational steps to complete. The sealing gasket is installed in one of the sections to be joined and the spigot section is inserted within a mouth opening of the socket section with the sections being pressed together in a single operation, thereby forming both the joint and the seal. The sealing gasket is a composite gasket made with one section of a hard plastic material and one section of a thermoplastic elastomer material. No glue or adhesive is required.

PIPELINE SYSTEM OF PIPE SECTIONS WITH PRE-ASSEMBLED INSULATING WELD BACKING RINGS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME

A pre-assembled insulated weld backing ring for a tubular section of the pipeline. The weld backing ring includes a metal cylinder and an insulation layer. The metal cylinder has a ring-shaped anterior portion and a ring-shaped raised posterior portion with a step therebetween. The posterior portion has a larger diameter than the anterior portion to define an insulation pocket. The insulation layer is positioned on the external surface of the metal cylinder. The insulation layer is made of an insulated material positioned in the insulation pocket to define a protective barrier to protect the tubular section during welding. The weld backing ring may also include a second metal cylinder positioned on the insulation layer. The weld backing ring may be pre-assembled by applying a tubular metal section material to a sheet of metal and rolling the sheet of metal to form the metal cylinder.

Fluid system and method of manufacture via friction welding
10850451 · 2020-12-01 · ·

A method of friction welding a workpiece to a fluid element includes the step of placing a workpiece weld surface in contact with a fluid element weld surface. The workpiece weld surface is driven in a predetermined pattern along the fluid element weld surface. Pressure is applied between the workpiece weld surface and the fluid element weld surface to produce friction and heat sufficient to raise the temperature of the weld surfaces to welding temperature. A weld bond is formed by stopping the driving of the workpiece weld surface while applying the pressure between the weld surfaces. Before and/or after the weld bond is formed, at least a portion of the workpiece is machined to form at least a portion of a fluid fitting configured to receive and sealingly attach to a pipe in a non-leaking manner to convey a flow of fluid therethrough.

Pipe end forming methods and pipe clamp

Methods for forming a pipe end for a pipe having an inner surface lined with a liner are provided, wherein the pipe is cut at an axial location to provide a first end having an initial inner diameter defined by an inner surface of the pipe; and a length of the pipe is expanded from the first end to form an upset, bell end where an inner diameter of the upset, bell end is larger than the initial diameter, thereby defining an annulus between the inner surface of the pipe and the liner. A clamp for limiting a pipe's movement during various operations is also provided.
