HYBRID MECHANICALLY LINED PIPE METHODS AND APPARATUS
20210148505 · 2021-05-20 ·

Aspects of the present disclosure relates to methods of making a hybrid mechanically lined pipe, and apparatus thereof, such as lined pipe used for reeled pipe operations. In one implementation, a method of making a lined pipe for reeled pipe operations includes determining a minimum weld overlay length for a first pipe joint, and providing the first pipe joint. The first pipe joint includes a first end opposite of a second end, a central opening, and an inner surface. The method includes mechanically lining the inner surface of the first pipe joint with a first section of alloy. The method also includes weld overlaying a second section of alloy and a third section of alloy in the central opening and on both sides of the first section of alloy over the minimum weld overlay length to prevent excessive deformation of the mechanically bonded section during reeling operations.

A method of joining together liner sections within a polymer-lined pipe energises an induction coil inside the pipe to spot-heat part of a circumferential interface between the liner sections. This melts and fuses the polymer material locally. The induction coil is then moved along the interface to heat other parts of the interface successively above the melting temperature. An apparatus for performing the method has a power supply for energising the induction coil and a drive system for moving the energised induction coil relative to a body of the apparatus. The apparatus may be configured as a carriage that is movable along the pipe.

A carbon steel main body defines a flow passage. The carbon steel main body includes an end. The carbon steel main body includes a beveled edge at the end. A corrosion resistant cladding is deposited along an inner surface of the carbon steel main body. The corrosion resistant cladding extends from the end to a distance into the carbon steel main body.

A tubular includes a carbon steel main body defining a first flow passage. The carbon steel main body includes a first end and a second end. The carbon steel main body includes a beveled edge at the first end of the carbon steel main body. A corrosion resistant pup defines a second flow passage in-line with the first flow passage. The corrosion resistant pup includes a substantially same inner diameter and outer diameter as the carbon steel main body. The corrosion resistant pup includes a first end and a second end. The corrosion resistant pup includes a first beveled edge at the first end. The corrosion resistant pup is connected to the carbon steel main body by a weld along the beveled edge of the carbon steel main body and the beveled edge of the corrosion resistant pup.

Electrofusion Fittings for Lined Pipes

A liner bridge for a lined pipeline has bores extending through a tubular wall and terminals fitted in the bores, each terminal being exposed to an inward side of the wall for conducting electricity to an electrofusion element. A sealing interface between each terminal and its surrounding bore has one or more projecting formations of the terminal and at least one complementary formation of the bore engaged with the or each of the projecting formations. The interface can also include a sealing mass in the bore.

PIPELINE SYSTEM OF PIPE SECTIONS WITH PRE-ASSEMBLED INSULATING WELD BACKING RINGS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME

A pre-assembled insulated weld backing ring for a tubular section of the pipeline. The weld backing ring includes a metal cylinder and an insulation layer. The metal cylinder has a ring-shaped anterior portion and a ring-shaped raised posterior portion with a step therebetween. The posterior portion has a larger diameter than the anterior portion to define an insulation pocket. The insulation layer is positioned on the external surface of the metal cylinder. The insulation layer is made of an insulated material positioned in the insulation pocket to define a protective barrier to protect the tubular section during welding. The weld backing ring may also include a second metal cylinder positioned on the insulation layer. The weld backing ring may be pre-assembled by applying a tubular metal section material to a sheet of metal and rolling the sheet of metal to form the metal cylinder.

Device for welded joints in pipework
10760718 · 2020-09-01 ·

A piping device that includes two parts, each consisting of two concentric rings joined together by a solid steel mantle that when assembled produce a confined space between the pieces of at least 50 mm and house a guide wedge and an elastomeric ring that It produces the hydraulic seal and the thickness of this solid steel mantle and the assembly area between the cavity and the guide wedge is at least twice the thickness of the pipe. The heat of the welding process between the external concentric rings is released by the device itself and the temperature inside the pipe does not exceed 120+/20 C., eliminating any possible internal corrosion in the areas of the welded joints, since it prevents damage to the internal lining and increases the useful life of the pipe during it operation.

A connector for lined pipelines includes a tube having opposed male interface elements extending inwardly from respective ends of the tube. One or more circumferential permeable chokes project radially from each male interface element. The chokes minimise flow of oxidising fluid from the bore into the micro-annulus between the liner and the pipe while maximising flow of fluid from the micro-annulus into the bore in the event of catastrophic pressure drop in the bore. To maintain gaps between the tube ends and the pipe liners for fluid flow, shoulder formations extend circumferentially around the tube. The connector may be used in a joint arrangement where each liner includes a body, an end of lesser thickness and greater bore than the body that terminates short of an end of the pipe, an inner step between the body and the end, and an outer step between the end and the pipe.

DEVICE FOR THE INTERNAL MONOLITHIC INSULATION OF A WELDED PIPELINE JOINT

A device internally insulating a welded pipeline joint between pipes having an internal protective coating, in a first variant, includes a power actuator having a cylindrical elastic working member for radial expansion when excess pressure occurs inside its cavity. A cylindrical casing of elastic anti-adhesive material arranged coaxially on the member exterior can have channels for exhausting air and supplying a compound. In a second variant, the device sleevelessly insulates an annular space. A casing made of an anti-adhesive material is centrally reinforced by an elastic cord. Using a cylindrical elastic anti-adhesive casing coaxially arranged on the exterior of a power actuator elastic working member forms an annular space in the weld zone either using a protective sleeve, or by a reinforced casing portion. A vacuum in the space is filled by a compound. The elastic anti-adhesive material allows easy removal of the casing from the hardened compound surface.
