The present invention provides an adhesive protective film for protecting pipework, the film comprising: a protection layer; a release layer; and an adhesive between the protection and release layer. The release layer comprises a first plurality of uniformly spaced failure initiation locations provided along a first edge of the release layer for initiating tearing of the protective film; and the release layer is at least 50 μm thick.
Corrosion monitoring in a fire sprinkler system
A fire sprinkler system according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a pipe having a first pipe portion and a second pipe portion. The first pipe portion includes a wall having a first wall thickness, and the second pipe portion includes a wall having a second wall thickness that is greater than the first wall thickness. The fire sprinkler system further includes structure coupled to the pipe and defining a sealed chamber between the structure and at least the first pipe portion, and a sensor for sensing a pressure in the sealed chamber. Example corrosion monitoring devices and methods for monitoring corrosion in pipe systems, including fire sprinkler systems, are also disclosed.
Unidirectional fiber composite system for structural repairs and reinforcement
A composite system for the reinforcement of physical structures includes a plurality of unidirectional fibers arranged with respective longitudinal axes generally parallel to each other over a substantial portion of a length of each unidirectional fiber. The plurality of unidirectional fibers are non-mechanically connected. A resinous material adheres the plurality of unidirectional fibers to each other such that each one of the plurality of unidirectional fiber is adhered to at least one adjacent one of the plurality of unidirectional fibers along a substantial portion of the length of the adjacent one of the plurality unidirectional fibers.
Methods for repairing component cored passages
Methods and apparatus are provided for repairing a damaged area within a cored passage of a component. The method includes providing a repair tool that has a support portion, a leading portion extending from a first end of the support portion, and a trailing portion extending from a second end of the support portion. The leading portion of the repair tool is inserted into a first opening of the cored passage, and is threaded through the cored passage until the support portion is positioned at the damaged area within the cored passage. A restoration activity is performed on the damaged area as the support portion supports the cored passage proximate to the damaged area. Upon completion of the restoration activity, the repair tool is removed from the cored passage.

The in-situ rebuild method comprises roughening by a roughening technique a surrounding inner or outer surface to be treated around a defective section of a pipe or containment structure, applying one or more layers of a self-adhesive fiber sheet onto the roughened surface to be treated, encapsulating with a vacuum bag the one or more layers of the self-adhesive fiber sheet laying on the surface to be treated, creating by means of a vacuum system a low pressure into a space between the vacuum bag and the surface to be treated, injecting by means of an injection system an impregnation curable resin into the mentioned space, stopping the injecting and letting the impregnation curable resin to cure thereby forming a composite rebuild laminate on the surface to be treated surrounding the defective section, and disconnecting the vacuum system and the injection system and removing the vacuum bag.
Repair apparatus for material guide
A repair apparatus is configured to repair a hole in a curved wall portion of a material guide. The repair apparatus includes a patch body that can conform to the shape of the curved wall portion and a retainer that non-destructively holds the patch body in place on the wall portion over the hole. In certain embodiments, the retainers are magnets or straps. The patch body can be flexible so that it can be adjusted to conform to the shape of curved wall portions of various sizes and curvatures. The patch body can include a wear-resistant inner surface. In some embodiments, the patch body includes an outer shell and a wear-resistant inner liner connected to the shell. The liner can have one side that is unattached to the shell.
