Underground Hydrogen Storage Vessel

A method of storing hydrogen involves forming an excavation in the earth and constructing a storage tank therein comprised of integrated primary and secondary containment structures. The primary containment structure composed of a plurality of joinable cylindrical segments, or pre-fabricated sections joined to form a cylinder within the excavation. The secondary containment structure formed by pumping a curable, flowable composition into the cylinder, allowing it to flow out the bottom and up the second annulus to the earth's surface, and then hardening; thereby encasing the primary containment structure. The bottom of the cylinder is sealed with the bottom assembly. The top assembly is attached to the cylinder and tubing and packer are run into the cylinder creating a first annulus between the cylinder and tubing. Top assembly is sealed, fluids circulated out, and the tank dried. Thereafter, the tank is capable of safely storing hydrogen gas.

The fluid commodity transfer structure can be loaded onto an intermodal transport vehicle, unloaded at a location, deposited at the location, and be operably coupled with one or more receptacles and/or other fluid commodity transfer structures to provide fueling infrastructure for fleet vehicles or allow for the commercial transfer of fluid from one receptable to another as a mobile fluid transfer system.

High Pressure Vessel

A high-pressure container that includes a cylinder composed of a plastic, at least one half-shell composed of a plastic, a sleeve, a valve, and a seal member. The cylinder is to serve as a central member. The at least one half-shell is arranged at one axial end of the cylinder, and includes a substantially rotationally symmetrical insert as a boss member and a foot member at the end thereof facing an interior of the high-pressure container and which is embedded in the plastic of the at least one half-shell to substantially form a hollow cone or hollow cylinder. The sleeve is arranged within an inner circumference of the foot member such that the plastic of the half-shell is arranged between the sleeve and the inner circumference of the foot member. The valve is arranged in the boss member, and includes a stem portion arranged in the sleeve. The seal member includes a ring seal forming a seal between the stem portion of the valve and the sleeve.

High Pressure Vessel

A high-pressure container includes a cylinder composed of plastic, at least one half-shell composed of plastic, a substantially rotationally symmetrical insert as a boss member, and a sleeve. The cylinder is to serve as a centre member, while the at least one half-shell is at an axial end of the cylinder. The insert as a boss member, the insert having a foot member at an end thereof facing the container interior. The foot member is embedded in the plastic of the half-shell to substantially form a hollow cone or hollow cylinder. The sleeve is pressed into the inner circumference of the foot member at least in a pressing portion of the sleeve. The plastic of the half-shell is arranged between the sleeve and an inner circumference of the foot member so that in a pressing portion, a thin plastic layer of the plastic of the half-shell is pressed between the sleeve and the inner circumference of the foot member.

Some variations provide a pressure vessel comprising: a chamber for processing a material under a chamber pressure up to 5000 bar; an end cap disposed at one end of the pressure chamber; an interior seal plate disposed between the end cap and the chamber volume; and a plurality of pressure-vessel keys disposed between the end cap and an outer ring. At a chamber pressure greater than atmospheric, the end cap exerts a force against the keys to automatically and reversibly actuate a pressure-vessel seal. Conversely, at atmospheric pressure or less, the keys and end cap are easily removable. Essentially, the pressure in the vessel is utilized as an in situ mechanical force to automatically actuate a safe and efficient seal. Process cycle times are significantly reduced because the vessel is not opened and closed using tooling. Throughputs are increased, improving economics of pressure vessels for extraction, reaction, or other processes.

Boss with internal bearing

A boss configured for attachment to a pressure vessel includes a first bore therein and a bearing disposed at least partially within the first bore. A system for supporting a pressure vessel on a vessel mount includes a boss, a bearing, and an attachment element. The boss is attached to the pressure vessel and has a first bore therein. The bearing is disposed at least partially within the first bore and has a second bore therethrough. The attachment element is configured to be affixed to the vessel mount, wherein a portion of the attachment element extends through the second bore and is slidable within the first and second bores substantially along a longitudinal axis of the pressure vessel. A method is described for supporting a pressure vessel on a vessel mount.

Tank support assembly for a vehicle

A tank support assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle structure and a storage tank assembly. The storage tank assembly is held in place relative to the vehicle structure via a magnetic support system. The magnetic support system includes tank magnets affixed to the storage tank assembly and structure magnets affixed to the vehicle structure. The tank magnets interact with the structure magnets to passively provide repulsive magnetic forces that constrain movement of the storage tank assembly relative to the vehicle structure without the tank magnets mechanically engaging the structure magnets.
