HYDROGEN FUEL STORAGE AND DELIVERY SYSTEM
A fuel delivery and storage system is provided. A further aspect employs a remote central controller and/or software instructions which receive sensor data from stationary and bulk fuel storage tanks, portable distribution tanks, and end use tanks. Another aspect of the present system senses and transmits tank or hydrogen fuel characteristics including temperature, pressure, filled volume, contaminants, refilling cycle life and environmental hazards. Still another aspect includes a group of hydrogen fuel tanks which is pre-assembled with sensor, valve, microprocessor and transmitter components, at least some of which are within an insulator.
Containers and methods for protecting pressure vessels
A container includes first and second hollow shells respectively including first and second inner surfaces to receive a portion of a pressure vessel (PV). The first hollow shell includes a fiber layer that is and at least partially impregnated with resin, and an energy dissipating material that is substantially concentric with the first inner surface and disposed between the first inner surface and the fiber layer. The second hollow shell includes a fiber layer that is at least partially impregnated with resin, and an energy dissipating material that is substantially concentric with the second inner surface and disposed between the second inner surface and the second fiber layer. The first and second hollow shells are attachable to one another to define a volume for at least partially enclosing the PV.
A MEGC TRAILER
The invention relates to a MEGC trailer for transportation and temporary storage of a pressurized gaseous fluid, the MEGC trailer comprising: two gas banks each comprising one or more gas sections and a fluid conduit system. The fluid conduit system comprises a first and a second bank valve between which an additional gas section is connected to the fluid conduit system. Wherein the first and second bank valves are controllable so that the volume of at least one of the two gas banks can be changed with the volume of the additional gas section.
Pressure vessel longitudinal vents
The disclosure describes a pressure vessel having a first end with a first boss and a cylindrical portion. The vessel includes a liner, a composite shell disposed over the liner, and a first longitudinal vent disposed between the liner and the composite shell. The first longitudinal vent includes an elongated vent defining element and extends at least from the cylindrical portion of the vessel to the first boss.
SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING THE STATUS OF A GAS CYLINDER
According to the invention there is provided a system for determining a status of a gas cylinder, the system comprising: a load sensor configured to detect a weight of the cylinder at predetermined time intervals; a temperature sensor configured to detect a temperature local to the cylinder at the predetermined time intervals; and a processing unit configured to: receive weight signals and temperature signals from the load sensor and temperature sensor respectively; and determine, based on the received weight and temperature signals, the status of the gas cylinder; and provide an indication of the status of the gas cylinder to a user. A system for managing deployed cylinders is also provided. Methods and computer readable mediums are also provided.
GAS CYLINDER TRANSFER APPARATUS AND GAS CYLINDER LOGISTICS SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME
A gas cylinder transfer apparatus and a gas cylinder logistics system including the same are disclosed. The gas cylinder transfer apparatus includes a transfer vehicle for transferring a gas cylinder and a transfer robot disposed on the transfer vehicle. The transfer robot includes a robot hand for supporting a lower surface portion of the gas cylinder and a hand drive unit for moving the robot hand in horizontal and vertical directions.
Service device for a pressure vessel system
A service device for a pressure vessel system of a motor vehicle includes a service-device-side refueling coupling part which is connectable to a motor-vehicle-side refueling coupling part of the motor vehicle and a controller for activating the pressure vessel system. A method for the service of the pressure vessel system includes producing a connection between the service device and the pressure vessel system and activating the pressure vessel system by the service device.
Self-sealing pressure vessel systems and methods
A compressed gas storage system that includes a pressure vessel. The pressure vessel includes a first vessel portion and a second vessel portion in fluid communication with the first vessel portion. The pressure vessel includes a third vessel portion in fluid communication with the second vessel portion. The compressed gas storage system includes a first valve positioned between the first vessel portion and the second vessel portion and a second valve positioned between the second vessel portion and the third vessel portion. The first valve allows and impedes fluid flow between the first and the second vessel portions. The second valve allows and impedes fluid flow between the second and the third vessel portions.
Composite storage tank for gaseous hydrogen
A composite storage tank comprises a composite wall enclosing a gas storage volume and defining a cylindrical portion of the tank. The composite wall incorporates first and second sets of metallic fibres each of which is susceptible to embrittiement by hydrogen and has ends extending through the exterior surface of the composite wall. By measuring the electrical resistances of the metallic fibres, a measure of the amount of hydrogen that has leaked through the composite wall over a period of time, and the present physical condition of the tank, may be determined. The approximate axial and azimuthal coordinates of a particular leakage point may also be determined.
LH2 OFFLOADING WITH AUTO-PURGE AND PRE-COOLING
A computer-controlled method of automatically purging and precooling a hydrogen fuel line prior to transferring hydrogen fuel from a source to a storage tank includes purging moisture from a hydrogen fuel line. The hydrogen fuel line is configured to fluidically couple a hydrogen tanker storage tank and a fueling station storage tank, the hydrogen storage tanker storage tank and the fueling station storage tank configured to store liquid hydrogen. The method also includes pre-cooling the hydrogen fuel line, causing hydrogen fuel to flow through the hydrogen fuel line to re-fill the fueling station storage tank, and expelling residual hydrogen fuel from the hydrogen fuel line when the fueling station storage tank re-filling is complete.
