The vehicle headlamp optical system comprises a plurality of modules and a light distribution lens that is disposed in front of each module. The plurality of modules comprise at least one high-beam module, at least one main low-beam module, and at least one auxiliary low-beam module. The light distribution lenses are narrow, long light distribution lenses. Each module is disposed at an interval along the length direction of the light distribution lenses. Thus, the miniaturization and diversified design of a vehicle headlamp can be achieved.

Provided is an illumination device which has a coherent light source that emits a first coherent light beam and a second coherent light beam, an optical device that diffuses the first coherent light beam to illuminate a first illumination zone and diffuses a wave of the second coherent light beam to illuminate a second illumination zone, and a timing control unit that individually controls incidence timing of the first coherent light beam and the second coherent light beam on the optical device or illumination timing of the first illumination zone and the second illumination zone, wherein the optical device includes a first diffusion region on which the first coherent light beam is incident, and a second diffusion region on which the second coherent light beam is incident, the first diffusion region is capable of illuminating the first illumination zone by diffusion of the incident first coherent light beam.

The lights diffracted by the phase modulation elements are emitted with a low beam light distribution pattern that is a predetermined light distribution pattern based on the phase modulation patterns. A projection region on which zeroth order lights, that are emitted from the phase modulation elements without being diffracted by the phase modulation elements, among the lights incident on the phase modulation elements, are projected is located within a range where a driver's view of a vehicle is obstructed by the vehicle.

Controlling the light generation unit to form the light distribution pattern includes: controlling at least one first micro-LED element to generate a first luminous intensity at the central point, and controlling at least one second micro-LED element to generate a second luminous intensity at the peripheral point.

The low beam assembly includes a first low beam solid state light source module having a first laser solid state light source optically configured to emit a first luminous intensity distribution and a second laser solid state light source optically configured to emit a second luminous intensity distribution, and a second low beam solid state light source module having a solid state light source optically configured to emit a third luminous intensity distribution which at least partially overlaps at least one of the first and second luminous intensity distributions. The headlamp assembly also has a high beam assembly configured to generate a high beam distribution.
