Example embodiments relate to compact luminaire heads. One example luminaire head includes a thermally conductive metal body that includes a plate-like portion, a tube portion, and at least one cooling fin. The plate-like portion extends in a longitudinal direction of the metal body and having a flat first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The tube portion extends in the longitudinal direction at the second surface. The at least one cooling fin extends away from the second surface adjacent to the tube portion. The luminaire head also includes at least one support substrate with a plurality of light emitting elements. The at least one support substrate is arranged against the first surface. The tube portion is shaped to receive in a first open end thereof a rigid cylindrical end portion of a mounting base, such as a pole for the luminaire head.

A heat-sink assembly is configured with two parts to grip a light-emitting element and produce a transverse force urging a surface of the light-emitting element toward a surface of the heat-sink assembly, which conducts heat away from the light-emitting element. Fastening mechanisms and a fulcrum inter-connect the heat-sink parts and produce the force that grips the light-emitting element. A configuration of the heat-sink parts creates a semi-enclosed space accessible through a gap. A configuration of elastomeric gaskets within the semi-enclosed space protects a portion of the space from intrusion of liquids or other environmental influences. Configuration of the heat-sink parts to form a recess in the heat-sink assembly provides protection of the light-emitting element from mechanical damage, and the recess may contain transparent materials that further protect the light-emitting element from detrimental environmental influences.

The insulated main body has recessed notches. The wire set at least includes a first wire running through the notch, and the first wire is formed with a cut portion. When producing the LED strip in series connection, the LED components and the corresponding continuous wire can be soldered together directly by the means of SMT technique. Then, using a cutter and the preset notch, the wire can be cut at the position of the notch. In this way, the operation of SMT soldering for the LED strip can be completed quickly.

A LIGHT SOURCE APPARATUS

Disclosed herein is a light source apparatus for providing an adjustable number of wavelength channels. The light source apparatus comprises at least a first plurality of LED modules, each LED module comprising an LED, a housing which at least partially encloses the LED, and a light director attachable to said housing for directing light emitted by the LED. The first plurality of LED modules are attached to a support structure in a first arrangement via attachment means. In the first arrangement, light emitted by each LED of the first plurality of LEDs is directed along a first optical axis. At least one LED module of the first plurality of LED modules is a removable LED module, and the attachment means is configured to allow the removal and re-attachment of the removable LED module to and from the first arrangement. The light source apparatus further comprises a plurality of driver PCBs and a controller PCB, each driver PCB of the plurality of driver PCBs being coupled to the controller PCB, and each LED module of the first plurality of LED modules is coupled to a first driver PCB of the plurality of driver PCBs. The controller PCB is configured to provide control signals to each of the driver PCBs, and each driver PCB is configured to provide drive signals to any LED module coupled with it.
