A hand holdable light comprises: a light body having a forward portion, a rearward portion, and a central portion between the forward portion and to the rearward portion; a light source proximate a forward end; and a switch for energizing the light source. The rearward portion has a non-circular cross-section; the switch is on the forward portion; and the central portion has a recess opposite the switch. The light is holdable by a hand with a finger or thumb proximate the recess and the other of a finger or thumb proximate the switch. A battery assembly comprises: a battery housing for receiving and connecting a battery; an electrical switch on a first end of the battery housing; and a pattern of electrical contacts on a second end of the battery housing, wherein ones of the electrical contacts are connected to the battery.

The light device includes a shell housing, a container located in the shell housing, and a light source assembly disposed inside the container. The light source assembly is configured to operate in a first mode to emit light of a first quality and to operate in a second mode to emit light of a second quality. The light device also includes a plug disposed on the shell housing, and the plug is electrically connected to the light source assembly. A window is arranged on the shell housing for allowing light emitted from the light source assembly to pass through. A proximity sensor is configured to enable the light source assembly to switch between the first mode and the second mode.

A portable light and assembly method may comprise: a light body supporting a source of electrical power and a light head having a light source that produces light. A rotating joint may include: a hollow cylindrical central member extending from one of the light body and the light head in a cylindrical bore of complementary size and shape in the other of the light body and the light head, a fastener retaining the hollow cylindrical member in the cylindrical bore, and one or more electrical conductors extending through the hollow cylindrical member of the rotating joint to connect the source of electrical power to the light source. A hinged cover has a latch including an arm member engaging a feature of the light body or including a thumb screw engaging a threaded hole of the light body, to retain the closed cover against the light body.

The present disclosure generally relates to lights and flashlights, and more specifically to a handheld flashlight which has at least two LED light sources and the ability to change between the light sources by twisting the head portion of the flashlight.

A handheld flashlight includes a hollow cylinder having a first end and a second end, and a rechargeable battery therein. The handheld flashlight further includes a lamp head with a light source, a window breaker, a charging port and a discharging port, selectively connected to an external power source or an external load; a connection port, selectively connected to positive and negative terminals of a vehicle battery through external cables; and a management circuit, selectively applying power from the battery to one or more of the light source, the discharging port, and the connection, and selectively charging the battery from the external power source through the charging port; wherein the handheld flashlight is of such compact size and low weight as to be suitable for single-handed portable operation by a user.

This disclosure relates to a tie-down bracket for a motor vehicle. The tie-down bracket includes a base portion and a removable portion configured to selectively attach to and detach from the base portion. The removable portion is operable as a flashlight when detached from the base portion. A method is also disclosed.

A flashlight uses a reverse battery protection circuit to prevent current from flowing in a power control circuit when at least one battery is held in a reversed orientation, rather than a correct orientation, in a battery compartment of the flashlight.
