The system includes one or more projector units, and a respective attachment structure for each of the one or more projector units for attaching the projector units to a portion of the vehicle. The one or more projector units are configured and arranged to project a light signal on to at least a portion of the roadway adjacent the vehicle and in a travel path of the motorist. The one or more projector units include at least one light flare projector unit and/or at least one signage projector unit. A school bus incorporating the system is also disclosed. A method for alerting motorists travelling on a roadway in the vicinity of a vehicle is also disclosed.
LIGHTING DEVICE FOR PROVIDING LIGHT SIMILAR TO NATURAL LIGHT
A lighting device includes a plurality of LED light sources, a plurality of lens parts respectively disposed on front surfaces of the plurality of LED light sources to collect and irradiate light emitted from each of the plurality of LED light sources, and a controller for controlling operations of the plurality of LED light sources, wherein the plurality of LED light sources include visible-light LEDs and at least one ultraviolet LED and each of the plurality of lens parts includes a condensing lens disposed on the front surface of each of the plurality of LED light sources to decrease a divergence angle of light emitted from each of the plurality of LED light sources and a fly eye lens part disposed on a front surface of the condensing lens to stack the light on a light receiving surface.
TOILET FRESHENER AND NIGHTLIGHT
A toilet freshener and nightlight may include a flexible arm for attaching a body to a toilet bowel. The body may include a catch for selectively holding a fragrance dispensing container within the body. The body may also include a speaker for emitting white or pink noise or noise canceling waveforms. The toilet freshener may also include a transceiver to communicate with an application run on a mobile processor for allowing remote control of the toilet freshener and nightlight.
Automatic Orientation Techniques for Photocontrols of Intelligent Lighting Fixtures
A photocontrol, such as for an outdoor intelligent lighting fixture, may detect levels of ambient light at multiple sections of the photocontrol. The ambient light may be detected via multiple photosensors located at the photocontrol sections. In addition, the ambient light may be detected via multiple color filters (or sections of a color filter) located at the photocontrol sections. The photocontrol may determine an ambient light differential, such as an instant differential between light received at the multiple photocontrol sections at a particular time, or a temporal differential between light received at the multiple photocontrol sections across multiple times. Based on the ambient light differential, the photocontrol may identify triggering photosensor or triggering section that substantially align with a geographical orientation. The photocontrol may identify a lighting output profile. An output level of a lighting element may be modified based on the lighting output profile.
Streetlight retrofit to provide access for wireless and cellular networks
A system for upgrading and retrofitting existing streetlights. The system enables conventional streetlights using sodium vapor, and other conventional lighting technologies, to be upgraded to more energy efficient and long-lasting LED lighting. At the same time, cellular and wireless communications can be added to the streetlight to provide additional bandwidth over that provided by conventional cell towers. The system can offload bandwidth in otherwise overloaded areas, such as densely populated urban areas. The system can include mini- or micro-cellular routers, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, and other micro cellular and wireless technologies. The system can include a light fixture styled to look like existing conventional light fixtures and can be retrofitted to existing streetlight poles and mounts with little, or no, modification to the pole and wiring.
Vehicular lighting using passive and/or active optics
A reflector unit may behave as a retroreflector to reflect light of a selected color. The reflector unit may comprise a first reflector having a first color, a second reflector having a second color, and a mask that either allows incoming light to reach the first reflector and not the second reflector or allows incoming light to reach the second reflector and not the first reflector. An active light unit may emit light of a particular color in response to receiving light. In this fashion, the active light unit may simulate the operation of a reflector. The reflector unit and the active light unit may operate on a bi-directional vehicle.
Smart sensor device and antenna structure for use therewith
A sensor device includes a housing, a substrate positioned within the housing, at least one radiative antenna element positioned upon a first surface of the substrate, and a processing section positioned in a stacked arrangement with the substrate, opposite a second surface of the substrate. The substrate includes at least one interruption configured to allow light entering the housing to pass through the substrate from the first surface through the second surface. The antenna elements(s) is positioned upon the substrate so as to avoid the interruption(s). The processing section includes light-responsive circuitry and is configured such that the circuitry is positioned so as to receive light entering the housing through the at least one aperture. The substrate may be generally circular, substantially rigid, have a substantially certain radius between about three-fourths inch and about four inches, and have a substantially certain thickness between about 0.05 inches and about one-half inch.
Luminaire system facilitating modular enhancement
A light fixture can be electrically connected to a module that can add certain functionality and/or alter the way the light fixture is controlled. A module base includes a module receiver configured to receive one of a plurality of modules. At least the module base is connected to input power. When a first module is coupled to the module base, the combination of the light fixture and module has a first range of functionality dictated at least in part by the functionality of the first module. When the first module is removed and replaced with a second module, the combination of the light fixture and the module has a second range of functionality dictated at least in part by the functionality of the second module.
Receptacle socket assembly for lighting equipment
A receptacle socket assembly for lighting equipment comprising: a receptacle having a front side for receiving contacts of a control module, said receptacle housing a plurality of receptacle contacts, each receptacle contact being provided, at a front end, with a front contact portion for being electrically connected with a contact of a control module, and, at a rear end, with a rear contact portion; a wire connector having a front side and a rear side, said wire connector housing a plurality of connector contacts, each connector contact being provided, at a rear end, with a wire receiving contact for receiving and fixing a wire end and, at a front end, with a front contact portion; wherein the rear side of the receptacle and the front side of the wire connector are configured such that the wire connector is removably pluggable in the rear side of the receptacle.
