Staged radial air swirler with radial liquid fuel distributor
A nozzle includes a nozzle body with an inner air passage fed by a first radial swirler and a second radial swirler axially downstream of the first radial swirler. A first fuel circuit is axially between the first and second radial swirlers. A second fuel circuit is axially downstream of the second radial swirler, wherein each of the first fuel circuit and the second fuel circuit extends from a respective fuel circuit inlet to a respective annular fuel circuit outlet. An outer air passage is defined between a fuel circuit outer wall of the second fuel circuit and an outer air passage wall, wherein the outer air passage is a converging non-swirling air passage. An intermediate air passage can be defined between an intermediate wall and the second radial swirler, wherein the intermediate air passage is a converging non-swirling air passage.
Light weight swirler for gas turbine engine combustor and a method for lightening a swirler for a gas turbine engine
The disclosure is directed to a swirler body for a combustor of a gas turbine engine, where the swirler body includes an annular mount face which defines at least one pocket. The disclosure is directed to a swirler assembly for a combustor of a gas turbine engine, where the swirler assembly includes a swirler first body with an annular first mount face which defines at least one first pocket and a swirler second body with an annular second mount face which abuts said annular first mount face, where said second annular mount face defines at least one second pocket. The disclosure is directed to a method of lightening a swirler assembly for a combustor of a gas turbine engine, where the method includes defining at least one pocket within an annular mount face of a swirler body.
Staged dual fuel radial nozzle with radial liquid fuel distributor
A nozzle includes a nozzle body defining a longitudinal axis and including a primary distributor and a secondary distributor. The primary distributor has an inner air passage fed by a radial swirler; a first fuel circuit radially outboard from the inner air passage with respect to the longitudinal axis; a second fuel circuit radially outboard from the first fuel circuit with respect to the longitudinal axis, wherein each of the first fuel circuit and the second fuel circuit extends from a respective fuel circuit inlet to a respective annular fuel circuit outlet; and an outer air passage defined between a fuel circuit outer wall and an outer air passage wall, wherein the outer air passage is a converging non-swirling outer air passage. The secondary distributor similar to the primary distributor is downstream of the primary distributor with respect to the longitudinal axis.
FUEL SWIRLER WITH ANTI-ROTATION FEATURES
A fuel swirler with anti-rotation features is provided. A swirler assembly may comprise a swirler, a guide plate, and a retaining ring. The swirler, the guide plate, and/or the retaining ring may comprise recessions configured to receive a retaining element. The retaining element may be configured to interface with the recessions to create an interference in the swirler assembly. The interference may at least partially resist rotation of the guide plate with respect to the swirler.

AIR SWIRLERS
A swirler, such as for swirling air in a fuel injector of a gas turbine engine, includes a swirler body with opposed inlet and outlet ends with a swirler wall extending therebetween along a longitudinal axis. The inlet end of the swirler body defines an inlet opening. A plurality of swirl slots is defined through a portion of the swirler wall that converges toward the longitudinal axis in a direction from the inlet opening toward the outlet end of the swirler body. The swirl slots are radially off-set with respect to the longitudinal axis for imparting swirl on a flow passing from the inlet opening, through the swirl slots, and past the outlet end of the swirler body.
Combustion burner, combustor, and gas turbine having a swirl vane with opposite directed surfaces
A combustion burner includes a nozzle and a swirl vane disposed in an axial flow path extending along an axial direction of the nozzle. The swirl vane includes a tip portion for swirling gas, the gas flowing through a radially-outer region of the axial flow path, and a root portion disposed on an inner side in a radial direction of the nozzle, the root portion having a cutout on a side of a trailing edge. The radially-outer region and a radially-inner region of the axial flow path communicate with each other, at least in a range in the axial direction in which the swirl vane is disposed. The swirl vane has a pressure surface, a downstream region of the pressure surface of the root portion being defined by the cutout as a curved surface which curves in a direction opposite to the swirl direction toward the trailing edge.
Airblast fuel injector
An airblast fuel injector for a gas turbine engine fuel spray nozzle has, in order from radially inner to outer, a coaxial arrangement of an inner air swirler passage, an annular fuel passage, an annular outer air swirler passage, and an annular shroud air swirler passage. The injector further has an annular shroud having an inner surface profile. Relative to the overall axial direction of flow through the injector the shroud inner surface profile has a convergent section followed by a divergent section, the transition of which forming a first inwardly directed annular nose. The injector further has an annular wall having an outer surface profile, and having an inner surface profile. Relative to the overall axial direction of flow through the injector the wall outer surface profile has a convergent section followed by an outwardly turning section which faces across the shroud air passage to the first nose.
