Systems and methods implementing the systems including a facility including a plurality of collection apparatuses distributed in the facility for ease of collection and transportation. The system also includes transportation subsystems for shipping filled inner containers to a processing subsystem and for transporting a fuel material or a land fillable material to incineration or landfill subsystems. The systems may also include a monitoring subsystem for monitoring the deployed collection apparatuses, inner containers, the fuel material and the land fillable material.

Apparatus for incinerating explosive devices and biological agents

An incinerator has a spherical chamber body to define an incineration chamber and includes a port structure with an opening that provides access to the incineration chamber. A hatch is pivotably attached to the port structure to provide access to the opening or to close the opening in the port structure. An incendiary device support member located within the incineration chamber to hold an ignitable incendiary device. A flammable panel member is located within the incineration chamber and positioned over the incendiary device support member. The panel member supports IEDs, explosive devices or biological agents for incineration. When the ignitable incendiary device is ignited, thermal energy is produced to incinerate the IEDs, explosive devices or biological agents positioned on the panel member.

SEALED PLASMA MELTING FURNACE FOR TREATING LOW- AND INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE

The present invention relates to a sealed plasma melting furnace for treating low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, which allows the secondary pollutants to be minimized. The sealed plasma melting furnace includes: a waste supply chamber communicatively provided with a hopper; a pyrolysis chamber channel communicatively coupled with the waste supply chamber; a pyrolysis chamber having a burner mounted thereon; a melting chamber channel guiding the waste transferred from the pyrolysis chamber communicatively provided therewith to fall down; a melting chamber provided with a furnace interior portion accommodating a molten substance on a bottom surface thereof; a processed molten substance discharge channel discharging the processed molten substance generated in the melting chamber; a secondary combustion chamber channel inducing and exhausting an off-gas flow generated in the melting chamber; and a secondary combustion chamber inducing complete combustion of the off-gas input from the secondary combustion chamber channel.

Method and facility for incinerating, melting and vitrifying organic and metal waste

The method according to the invention enables a facility having a rather reduced dimension, for incinerating to be used, melting and vitrifying mixed waste (30) introduced into a reactor (10), by means of a basket (18) in turn passing through an air lock (12). Plasma torches (14) burn all waste (30) contained in the basket (18). The waste is then lowered in a melting bath of a furnace (20) with an inductor (24) including a crucible-forming container (23). A combustion gas treatment train completes the facility. The furnace (20) can be dismantled, after a series of treatments of several baskets (18) of waste (30) for disassembling the crucible-forming container (23) from the furnace (20). Application in treating different radiologically contaminated and/or toxic mixed waste.

Packaging designed to be a fuel component and methods for making and using same

Containers for disposal of waste materials, used or unused having desired burn properties. The containers have tailored or engineered properties based on material construction so that they are burnable and alter burn properties of the source materials, used or unused, contained therein. The containers may also include cavities into which accelerants, retarders, combustion aids, fuel value enhancing agents, additives to change an ash composition, other additives or the like are added.

PLASMA FURNACE

The present invention relates to a plasma furnace which can efficiently treat various types of waste in large amounts. The plasma furnace comprises a melting chamber 101 for accommodating a melt, an upper surface forming the upper portion of the melting chamber 101 with a horizontal upper surface 111 and an inclined upper surface 112 having a slope with respect to the horizontal upper surface 111, a melt discharge portion 130 formed through a bottom surface of the melting chamber for discharging molten material therethrough, and an input apparatus 120 having a slope for inputting waste into the melting chamber 101, and the mixed type plasma torch 191, 192 provided on the inclined upper surface 112 with a slope for generating melting heat in the melting chamber 101.

System for gasifying waste, method for gasifying waste

The invention provides a system for reducing the volume of bulk material, comprising a transportable container; a single chamber adapted to receive said transportable container; a means for establishing a plurality of controlled atmospheres within said chamber; a plurality of electrically-charged heating elements capable of heating said chamber to at least 1200 F; and an waste heat generator in fluid communication with the chamber. A method for simultaneously thermally degrading different waste differently in a single chamber, comprising filling each container within a plurality of containers with preselected waste and placing each container within the chamber at preselected positions; establishing a controlled atmosphere within the chamber and applying heat to the waste for a time and at a temperature sufficient to gasify the waste; collecting thermal degradation data during gasification; and applying the collected data to an algorithm to adjust the temperature and oxygen concentrations for each preselected position.
