In response to a determination that the at least one mobile device is within the predefined zone, enabling a user selecting a temperature setting of the where the water heating system. The selection is wirelessly communicated to a receiver which is in communication with the water heating system.

Hot water recirculation system
11592190 · 2023-02-28 ·

A hot water recirculation system for a house or other building causes water to be recirculated to a water heater for reheating until the water is above a set-point temperature at which time the heated water is made available for use at a faucet or other hot water plumbing fixture. Recirculation of hot water takes place only when there is demand for hot water at a hot water plumbing fixture. A flow switching module for use in the hot water recirculation system can selectively direct water supplied to the flow switching module from a water heater either to a hot water plumbing fixture or to return piping for returning the water to the water heater. The flow switching module may be operated manually, automatically, or semi-automatically.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL DEVICE

Temperature control device (1) has a hot water inlet (12), a cold water inlet (14) and an outlet (16) for tempered water. A diffuser (18) is provided in the device (1) to disrupt the flow of hot water after it enters the device (1). The disrupted hot water emerges from the diffuser (18) into a chamber (20) in which it is melded with cold water that is able to enter the chamber (20) from the inlet (14) when a piston (22) is spaced from a seat (24). The melded hot and cold water result in tempered water that is discharged from the outlet (16). A temperature sensitive device (26) is provided, which is responsive to changes in ambient temperature. A temperature setting mechanism (52) is provided which is operatively associated with the temperature sensitive device (26) and permits the maximum temperature of the discharged tempered water to be adjusted.

Instant hot water delivery system

An instant hot water delivery system includes a thermal storage bin that receives hot water from a water heater via a hot water supply conduit and stores the hot water therein. The thermal storage bin is disposed adjacent a point of demand to deliver the hot water instantly to the point of demand responsive to a demand. The thermal storage bin is configured to retain a thermal energy of the hot water for a prolonged period using a phase change material. When the hot water stored in the thermal storage bin cools down below a threshold temperature, the cooled down hot water is recirculated to the water heater via a cold water supply conduit using a crossover valve. The recirculation is based on thermosiphon. Fresh hot water from the water heater replaces the cooled down hot water that is displaced from the thermal storage bin.

COMPACT WATER HEATING AND TREATMENT SYSTEM

A water heating and treatment system includes a water heater operatively coupled to a water heater controller, a hot water outflow line from the water heater, and a cold water supply line to supply water to the water heater. The cold water supply line includes at least one of an anti-scale device operatively coupled to an anti-scale device controller, and at least one sanitation device operatively coupled to a sanitation device controller. The mixing station is operatively coupled to a mixing station controller. The mixing station supplies heated water to at least a first temperature zone at a first hot water temperature. Controllers of the water heater controller, the anti-scale device controller, the sanitation device controller and the mixing station controller are co-located at a front of a single enclosure behind an openable door, the controllers operatively coupled to a supervisory controller.

A method for controlling an on-demand high volume capable fluid heating system that supplies a total heating power at a turndown ratio and a total flowrate of a fluid supply, the fluid heating system comprising a plurality of heat exchangers fluidly connected in parallel, each of the plurality of heat exchangers comprising: a fluid conductor, wherein each of the plurality of heat exchangers contributes to the total heating power and a portion of the total flowrate of the fluid supply through the fluid conductor; an inlet conductor configured to connect the fluid supply to the plurality of heat exchangers; an outlet conductor configured for receiving the fluid supply downstream of the plurality of heat exchangers; an auxiliary conductor connecting the inlet conductor at a first location and the outlet conductor, the auxiliary conductor comprising a modulating valve; and a pump disposed downstream from the first location on the inlet conductor.

Water heater with upstream water heater detection

A water heater and methods of operating the water heater are provided. The water heater appliance includes a tank, a cold water inlet conduit extending into the tank, a heating element within the tank, a hot water conduit extending from the tank to a mixing valve, a mixed water conduit downstream of the mixing valve, and a user interface.
