The air discharge device includes a main hole for discharging an air flow as a working air flow, an auxiliary hole provided around the main hole to discharge a support air flow, and a vortex suppression structure configured to suppress development of vortices generated in a velocity boundary layer of the working air flow at a downstream side of an outlet of the main hole. This vortex suppression structure is configured to make a central portion of the thickness of the velocity boundary layer of the working air flow at the downstream side of the outlet of the main hole to be closer to a mainstream of the support air flow, at the downstream side of the outlet of the main hole.

The nozzle is disposed adjacent to the circulation inlet and configured to accelerate a conditioned air flow into the mixing region such that unconditioned room air is induced by the conditioned air flow to enter the mixing region through the circulation inlet and from the room air intake.

The variable flow adapter is configured to receive conditioned air from the HVAC system. The damper is configured to block the conditioned air from passing therethrough and direct the conditioned air through the plurality of nozzles in the first configuration. Additionally, the damper is configured to open to direct the conditioned air therethrough in the second configuration.

Additionally, the air diffuser includes a second plurality of nozzles disposed in the housing and defining a second set of flow paths from the interior of the housing to an exterior of the housing. The air diffuser also includes a valve system configured to be actuated by the actuator to control air flow through the second set of flow paths of the second plurality of nozzles.

In embodiments, the system further includes a nozzle configured to direct a temperature-controlled air stream into a passenger space of an aircraft; wherein the nozzle is configured to be selectably adjusted in order to selectively blend the warmer air stream and the cooler air stream in order to generate the temperature-controlled air stream.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed toward an air diffuser that includes a mounting plate having an opening in a center portion of the mounting plate, where the opening is configured to be coupled to ductwork, a low flow adapter coupled to the mounting plate and disposed over the opening, where the low flow adapter includes extruded nozzles configured to increase a velocity and induction of air flow directed toward an interior space, and where the extruded nozzles are disposed at an angle with respect to a horizontal plane defined by the center portion of the mounting plate, and a diffusion plate coupled to the mounting plate, such that the low flow adapter is positioned between the mounting plate and the diffusion plate.
