The threaded cover is mounted on an upper opening of the heating tank body and includes a plastic cover and a protective cover mounted on and around the plastic cover. The thermal insulation cover is fitted in the upper opening and includes an upper cover and a lower cover. The lower cover is cup-shaped; is mounted with a heating tube, a water inlet pipe, a water outlet pipe, a thermowell, a temperature-sensing heat pipe, a heat collector block, and two snap-action thermostats at the bottom side; and has a sidewall formed with a step adjacent to the bottom side. The heating tank not only has a multiple-piece structure that facilitates mass production and maintenance, but also dispenses with electronic temperature control as is conventionally required.
Heating devices to prevent bacteria proliferation in the lowermost region of a water holding tank of an electric water heater
An electric water heater having a water holding tank defined by a cylindrical side wall, a top wall and a dome-shaped bottom wall. A cold water inlet is disposed for releasing water under pressure in a lower portion of the tank. Two or more resistive heating elements heat water in an upper and lower region of the tank. The lower portion of the cylindrical side wall and the outer circumferential portion of the dome-shape bottom wall form a circumferential cavitated area inside the tank in which sediments deposit forming a bed in which bacteria can proliferate. A conduit is secured about at least a substantial circumferential portion of an outer surface of the cylindrical side wall adjacent the cavitated area. A resistive heating wire is disposed in the conduit and has connection leads extending out of a free open end of the conduit to an access area to provide connection to power terminals and a control for controlling the supply of power to the resistive heating wire.
Retrofit cover plate and assembly to adapt alternative energy supplies to electric water heaters
A multi-functional retrofit cover plate assembly and method for an electric water heater to provide interconnection with an alternative energy system to heat water in a water holding tank of the electric water heater. The cover plate is adapted for replacement connection over a bottom access opening formed in an outer casing of the electric water heater which permits access to a bottom resistive heating element and electrical connections. The retrofit cover plate is shaped to define an internal dedicated compartment. A dual resistive heating element is provided for replacement of the bottom resistive heating element. An electronic switch unit is further provided and it has a power cut-off switch for connection to an alternative supply voltage. A temperature sensor is provided for mounting against an outer surface of the tank of the water heater to feed actual temperature signals of water temperature within the tank, in a lower region thereof, to the electronic switch unit which operates the power cut-off switch upon a predetermined temperature having been attained in the tank of the water heater. The retrofit cover plate and the assembly also make it possible to covert the water heater to a high temperature water heater or to adapt the electric water heater to a thermal fluid heat source.
Solar water pasteurizer
A solar water pasteurizer has a water jug removably disposed in a solar box with insulation and a solar window. The water jug has a lid to close an aperture in the solar box and a handle thermally isolated from the water jug to facilitate handling of the water jug with heated water. Multiple water jugs can be swapped in and out of the solar box. The solar box also has a thermal mass to preserve some heat in the solar box.
Heating devices to prevent bacteria proliferation in the lowermost region of a water holding tank of an electric water heater
An electric water heater is described and wherein the bottom portion of the water holding tank is provided with various forms of electric heating elements to heat the water in the lowermost region of the tank adjacent the dome-shaped bottom wall to a temperature sufficient to prevent the proliferation of bacteria growth such as the Legionella bacteria in such lowermost region. The insulating foam support base of the water heater also provides a thermal barrier to the heating elements while biasing the heating element on the dome-shaped bottom wall in a region to insure excellent heat transfer to the cavitated zone surrounding the dome-shaped bottom wall where sedimentary deposits occur to create a culture medium for bacteria growth.
GAS-FUELED WATER HEATER APPLIANCE HAVING A FOAM BARRIER
A method for insulating a gas-fueled water heater includes providing a tank for storage of water for heating and a combustion chamber adjacent to the tank. The method includes providing a compressed foam barrier circumferentially around the tank. Further, the method includes positioning a covering around the tank from a top end to a bottom end, the covering extending over the compressed foam barrier. Moreover, the method includes decompressing the compressed foam barrier such that an outer diameter of the foam barrier expands up to and seals against the covering so as to separate an internal volume defined between an outer surface of the tank and the covering into a first section and a second section. Then, the method includes injecting a foam material into the first section so as to provide a foam barrier around at least a portion of an outer surface of the tank.
