TORQUE LIMITER DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS AND SOLAR TRACKERS INCORPORATING TORQUE LIMITERS
A solar tracker assembly comprises a support column, a torsion beam connected to the support column, a mounting mechanism attached to the torsion beam, a drive system connected to the torsion beam, and a torsion limiter connected to an output of the drive system. When an external force causes a level of torsion on the drive system to exceed a pre-set limit the torsion limiter facilitates rotational movement of the solar tracker assembly in the direction of the torsion, thereby allowing the external force to rotate about a pivot axis extending through the torsion beam. Exemplary embodiments also include methods of aligning a plurality of rows of solar trackers.
Two axis solar panel tracking system using rotational and axially longitudinal motion
An apparatus including a solar panel having a first end and a second end, wherein the second end is opposite the first end; a first cylinder having a first end rotatably connected to the solar panel at a first pivot point; a second cylinder having a first end rotatably connected to the solar panel at a second pivot point which is different from the first pivot point; a support beam having a first end rotatably connected to the solar panel at a third pivot point which differs from the first and second pivot points and which is between the first and second pivot points; and a base. The first cylinder is configured to raise or lower the first end of the solar panel; while the second cylinder is configured to lower or raise, respectively, the second end of the solar panel.
INTEGRATED TRACKING DRIVE AND MOUNT
An integrated drive leg and mount suitable for solar power devices, such as trough solar concentrators or PV panels. A drive system including a linear actuator is integrated into the support structure. A pulley assembly converts the linear force into rotational motion, thereby providing tracking adjustments for a solar power device following the sun avoiding larger external electric drive motor which are situated between successive solar power devices. The integrated nature enables a smaller gap between solar power devices in solar installations, reduces the effect of induced shadowing, and enables greater collection of solar energy.
AZIMUTHAL ROTATION MECHANISM FOR SOLAR TRACKERS
Azimuthal rotation mechanism for solar trackers comprising a vertical pedestal (1) on which a rotating support (2) holding the solar panels (7) is mounted, which is actuated by means of at least three hydraulic cylinders (4, 5 and 6) located in the same horizontal plane and articulated through the casing to the rotating support (2) by means of a first movable vertical shaft (18), while the piston rods of the three cylinders pass through the wall of the rotating support and are articulated at the same height to the pedestal by means of a second fixed vertical rotation shaft (21).
Fluidic solar actuator
A solar actuator comprises a top coupler, a bottom coupler, and a plurality of fluidic bellows actuators, wherein a fluidic bellows actuator of the plurality of fluidic bellows actuators moves the top coupler relative to the bottom coupler.
Solar generator and hydraulic control seat valve
In a solar generator, comprising a reflector and an electrohydraulic sun-position tracking device with at least one hydraulic cylinder and a hydraulic control seat valve, the reflector can be guided via the control seat valve to follow in synchronism with the course of the sun continuously and uninterruptedly. The control seat valve for regulating a pressure medium flow permanently supplied to the hydraulic cylinder comprises a seat surface and a sealing surface permanently pressed against each other with variable contact pressure, with which the pressure medium flow can be generated as controlled leakage. The sealing surface is made of a material that can be deformed by contact pressure. In the control seat valve, the controlled leakage is set in a control position at least substantially without lifting movement exclusively by the relative material deformation of the sealing surface on the seat surface, which deformation is set via the contact pressure.
Variable radius under module balanced bearing
A solar tracker bearing and a solar tracker incorporating the bearing, the bearing including at least one rotatable part, the rotatable part including a notch for receiving a torque tube, a slot, formed in the rotatable part and extending below the notch, the slot defining an arc having multiple radii, at least one engagement member configured to be received in the slot, and at least one base configured to secure the engagement member in the slot and to secure the bearing to a pier.
Systems for damping a solar photovoltaic array tracker
A solar tracker system includes a support tube, a solar panel assembly connected to the support tube, and an active lock connected to the support tube. The active lock includes a housing defining a chamber and a seal. The seal prevents a flow of fluid through the chamber when the active lock is in a sealed state and allows the flow of fluid through the chamber when the active lock is in an unsealed state. The active lock further includes a locking system motor connected to the seal to transition the active lock between the sealed state and the unsealed state, a battery providing power to the locking system motor, and an antenna for receiving instructions controlling the locking system motor.
