Controlling metering devices

A metering device may automatically control fluid flow through a valve. A control system may alter the automatic control of a metering device. In some implementations, a predetermined event may occur to alter the automatic control of the metering device.

THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVES AND METHODS OF CONTROL

A method of operating a refrigeration system is provided. The method includes activating an evaporator heater (306), monitoring a pressure differential within the refrigeration system (308), when the pressure differential reaches a predetermined value (310), deactivating the evaporator heater (312), and activating one or more evaporator fans (314), after deactivating the evaporator heater, to cause a thermostatic expansion valve to open.

PRESSURE SPIKE REDUCTION FOR REFRIGERANT SYSTEMS INCORPORATING A MICROCHANNEL HEAT EXCHANGER

A refrigerant system includes at least one compressor that compresses refrigerant and delivers it downstream to a heat rejection heat exchanger. The heat rejection heat exchanger is a microchannel heat exchanger. Refrigerant passes from the heat rejection heat exchanger downstream to an expansion device, from the expansion device through an evaporator, and from the evaporator back to the at least one compressor. A control operates at least one compressor and the expansion device to reduce pressure spikes at transient conditions.

A refrigerant system includes at least one compressor (54, 56) that compresses refrigerant and delivers it downstream to a heat rejection heat exchanger (26). The heat rejection heat exchanger is a microchannel heat exchanger. Refrigerant passes from the heat rejection heat exchanger downstream to an expansion device (60), from the expansion device through an evaporator (66), and from the evaporator back to the at least one compressor. A control (58) operates at least one compressor and the expansion device to reduce pressure spikes at transient conditions.
