An expansion valve includes a shaft one end side of which connects to a power element and the other end side of which connects to a valve element, the shaft transmitting the drive force, generated by the power element in a direction of axis line, to the valve element, and a sliding mechanism that applies a sliding resistance to the actuation of the valve element. The sliding mechanism is configured such that the magnitude of the sliding resistance affected to the valve element is varied by the position of the valve element in the direction of axis line in the body.

A control valve of an embodiment includes a disc coaxially in contact with a diaphragm, and a shaft configured to transmit a drive force in an axial direction caused by displacement of the diaphragm to a valve element. The diaphragm has a corrugated portion between a flat portion and the outer peripheral portion, the flat portion having a contact surface with which the disc is in contact. The corrugated portion includes substantially N+0.5 corrugations (N being a natural number) each protruding relative to a reference surface, the corrugations being formed between the outer peripheral portion and the flat portion, the reference surface being one surface of the outer peripheral portion. A height of each of the N corrugations of the corrugated portion is smaller than a height of the flat portion, the heights each being a height relative to the reference surface in an unloaded condition.

Integrated cold plate with expansion device and uniform cooling method achieved therewith

A flow control cartridge is used with a cold plate to form a cold plate assembly within which a refrigerant circulates for cooling at least one heat generating device. The cartridge includes a thermal expansion valve and a sensing portion that with a bellows-type actuator within the cartridge. The bellows-type actuator is located directly in a stream of the refrigerant exiting the cold plate. The thermal expansion valve is comprised of a main body having an inlet orifice arranged to receive refrigerant that has been subcooled from a condenser of a vapor compression system or a recuperative heat exchanger, and a needle arranged in an expanded section of the main body in association with discharge ports in the expanded section for discharging the refrigerant in a two-phase state into the cold plate.

Expansion valve

A downstream-side passage of an expansion valve includes a small-diameter part to which a valve hole and an insertion hole are open, and a large-diameter part to which a pipe leading to an evaporator is connected. A plate has a shield part partially covering a downstream end of the small-diameter part. The shield part has a height of 2 mm or larger in a radial direction of the small-diameter part from a projected position of an opening of the insertion hole at the downstream end of the small-diameter part, and a width equal to or larger than a radius of the shaft within a range of the height. The plate is provided so that the shield part does not cover at least a range of projection of an opening of the valve hole at the downstream end of the small-diameter part.

A heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a multi-path expansion device subsystem positioned between a condenser and an evaporator. The multi-path expansion device subsystem includes a flow selector operative to receive a refrigerant from the condenser and selectively deliver the same to a full-load pathway or to a partial-load pathway. The full-load pathway has a modulating valve and a fixed orifice sized for a full-load situation, and the partial-load pathway has a thermal expansion valve (TXV) sized for partial load operation. A controller uses an actuator of the flow selector to choose which pathway is authorized according to certain process logic. Other methods and systems are presented.
