Refrigeration Cycle Apparatus
A refrigeration cycle apparatus includes: a compressor, a first outdoor heat exchanger, and a second outdoor heat exchanger that; and a flow path switching mechanism configured to switch a flow direction of refrigerant compressed by the compressor in the refrigerant circuit. The first outdoor heat exchanger and the second outdoor heat exchanger are arranged to allow the refrigerant to flow in parallel in the refrigerant circuit. The refrigeration cycle apparatus further includes a flow rate adjustment mechanism configured to adjust an amount of refrigerant flowing through the second outdoor heat exchanger. When switching between a cooling operation and a heating operation, the flow path switching mechanism switches the flow direction of the refrigerant while the flow rate adjustment mechanism temporarily closes a refrigerant flow path to the second outdoor heat exchanger.
System and Method for Calculation of Thermofluid Properties using Saturation Curve-Aligned Coordinates
A system for controlling or optimizing the performance of a vapor compression system by modifying the actuator commands via an output interface, that realizes thermofluid property functions and their derivatives as spline functions which are represented in a coordinate system that is aligned with a fluid saturation curve. The system includes an interface configured to receive measurement data from sensors, a memory configured to store thermofluid property data and computer-executable programs including a B-spline method, and a processor for performing the computer-implemented method. The processor is configured to take as input two thermofluid property variables, and compute a coordinate transformation in which one axis of the coordinates is aligned with the liquid and vapor saturation curves. In the saturation-curve aligned coordinates, a spline function represents the thermofluid property function, with coefficients and knots stored in memory. The spline function is constructed in a manner such that derivatives of the thermofluid property function may be discontinuous across the saturation curve.
Variable speed drive with secondary windings
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a refrigeration system that includes a compressor configured to circulate refrigerant along a refrigerant loop, a motor configured to drive the compressor, and a variable speed drive coupled to the motor and configured to supply power to the motor. The variable speed drive includes a primary winding of a step down transformer coupled to an alternating current (AC) power source, a first secondary winding of the step down transformer, where the first secondary winding is configured to supply power at a variable supplied voltage to the motor when the motor operates below a threshold voltage, and a second secondary winding of the step down transformer, where the second secondary winding is configured to supply power at a fixed supplied voltage when the motor operates at or above the threshold voltage.
Compressor Flow Restrictor
A climate-control system may include a first compressor, a second compressor, a suction manifold, and a flow restrictor. The first and second compressors each include a shell and a compression mechanism. The shells define suction chambers from which the compression mechanisms draw working fluid. The shells include suction inlet fittings through which working fluid is drawn into the suction chambers. The suction inlet fittings are fluidly connected to the suction manifold. The suction manifold provides suction-pressure working fluid to the suction inlet fittings of the first and second compressors. The flow restrictor may be at least partially disposed within the suction manifold.
Row split coil systems for HVAC systems
A multiple-circuit heating and cooling system includes a first refrigeration circuit having a first condenser and a first evaporator and a second refrigeration circuit having a second condenser and a second evaporator. The first condenser and the second condenser are arranged in a first row split configuration, and the second condenser is downstream of the first condenser relative to a first air flow directed across the second condenser and the first condenser. Additionally, the first evaporator and the second evaporator are arranged in a second row split configuration, and the first evaporator is downstream of the second evaporator relative to a second air flow directed across the first evaporator and the second evaporator.
Vehicle air-conditioning apparatus
A vehicle air-conditioning apparatus is provided which is capable of expanding an effective range of a dehumidifying and heating mode to achieve comfortable vehicle interior air conditioning. A control device (controller) executes a dehumidifying and heating mode to let a refrigerant discharged from a compressor 2 radiate heat in a radiator 4, let a part of the refrigerant flow from a bypass circuit (refrigerant pipe 13F) to an indoor expansion valve 8, and let the residual refrigerant flow through an outdoor expansion valve 6. In the dehumidifying and heating mode, the control device has a state of controlling the operation of the compressor 2, based on a heat absorber temperature Te and executes a radiator temperature priority mode which enlarges a capability of the compressor when heat radiation in the radiator is insufficient.
Refrigerating cycle device having wiring switch part that switches between wiring states
A refrigerating cycle device includes a compressor, a motor, and a wiring switch part. The compressor compresses a refrigerant. The motor generates power for compressing the refrigerant by rotating a rotor with voltage applied to a plurality of wirings. The motor is disposed in the compressor. The wiring switch part switches between a plurality of wiring states by changing connection between the plurality of wirings. When a rotational speed of the rotor exceeds a predetermined value, the wiring switch part switches to a first wiring state of the plurality of wiring states. The first wiring state differs from a second wiring state of the plurality of wiring state. Efficiency of the second wiring state is highest at the rotational speed.
Cold water supply system
A cold water supply system cools water flowing through a water pipe, and supplies the water cooled to a cooling load, the cold water supply system including: an independent refrigerant circuit unit including a first compressor and a first water heat exchanger configured to exchange heat between refrigerant and the water to cool the water; a composite unit configured to cool the water, and a controller configured to control operation of the independent refrigerant circuit unit and operation of the composite unit, wherein the composite unit includes a free cooling unit including a pump and a second water heat exchanger configured to exchange heat between a heat medium and the water to cool the water, and a coupled refrigerant circuit unit including a second compressor and a third water heat exchanger configured to exchange heat between refrigerant and the water to cool the water, and the controller controls an operating frequency of the first compressor, an operating frequency of the second compressor, and an operating frequency of the pump based on a temperature of the water flowing out from the water pipe.
Method and system for the heat-pump control to reduce liquid refrigerant migration
A method of mitigating liquid-refrigerant migration includes comparing a requested compressor speed of a variable-speed compressor to a pre-defined threshold and, responsive to a determination that the requested compressor speed is greater than the pre-defined threshold, operating the variable-speed compressor at a first compressor speed that is less than the requested compressor speed.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WITH VAPOR INJECTION COMPRESSOR
An air conditioning system can be toggled between a heating mode, in which heat is withdrawn from a source (e.g., a geothermal source) and deposited into a conditioned space (e.g., a building), and a cooling mode, in which heat is withdrawn from the conditioned space and deposited into the source. The air conditioning system uses a combination of efficiency-enhancing technologies, including injection of superheated vapor into the system's compressor from an economizer circuit, adjustable compressor speed, the use of one or coaxial heat exchangers and the use of electronic expansion valves that are continuously adjustable from a fully closed to various open positions. A controller may be used to control the system for optimal performance in both the heating and cooling modes, such as by disabling the economizer circuit and vapor injection when the system is in the cooling mode.
