A refrigeration appliance door is provided that includes a door wrapper forming an exterior of the appliance door. The door wrapper defines a wrapper flange defining a plurality of wrapper protrusions. A door liner defines a liner flange. The liner flange defines a plurality of liner protrusions. The door wrapper and the door liner are in a spaced apart configuration. A trim breaker defines a wrapper groove, a liner groove and a gasket groove. The wrapper flange is centered within the wrapper groove and the liner flange is centered within the liner groove. An adhesive is positioned within each of the wrapper and liner grooves. A portion of a gasket is positioned within the gasket groove of the trim breaker.

Barrier layer for insulated structures

An insulating structure for an appliance includes a trim breaker, a wrapper, and a liner. The wrapper and liner coupled to the trim breaker and at least partially defining a structural cabinet. A barrier is positioned between the liner and the wrapper. The barrier is also coupled to the trim breaker. An inner compressible gasket is proximate the liner, and an outer gasket is proximate the wrapper. The inner gasket and the outer compressible gasket are coupled to the barrier.

A refrigeration unit includes a cabinet, a door coupled to the cabinet, at least one gasket coupled to the door, and a heat loop conduit. The cabinet includes a front perimeter that surrounds an opening to a storage compartment within the cabinet. The door is operable between an open position to provide access to the storage compartment and a closed position to conceal the opening to the storage compartment. The at least one gasket is configured to be compressed between the door and the front perimeter of the cabinet in the closed position of the door. The heat loop conduit has a first conduit portion that extends around a majority of the opening along the front perimeter of the cabinet and a second conduit portion that extends around the majority of the opening along the front perimeter of the cabinet.

The gas conduit is adapted to define selective communication between the insulating space and an exterior of the structural cabinet. An insulating material is disposed within the insulating space, wherein the gas conduit is substantially free of the insulating material.

VACUUM INSULATED STRUCTURE WITH THERMAL BRIDGE BREAKER WITH HEAT LOOP

A refrigerator includes a wrapper having an opening with a front edge. A liner includes an opening and a front edge. A thermal bridge interconnects the wrapper and the liner to form a vacuum insulated cavity therebetween. The thermal bridge includes an outwardly opening channel and first and second inwardly opening channels. The front edge of wrapper is received in the first inwardly opening channel, and the front edge of the liner is received in the second inwardly opening channel. The second inwardly opening channel is inset relative to the first inwardly opening channel on the thermal bridge. A conduit is disposed within the outwardly opening channel and is configured to circulate a heated medium. The wrapper and liner are contemplated to be comprised of conductive materials, such sheet metal, while the thermal bridge is comprised of a thermally resistant material, such as a polymeric material.

A method for manufacturing a vacuum insulated structure includes adhering a trim breaker to a wrapper and a liner via an adhesive to define an insulated structure. The insulated structure and the evacuation chamber are heated via the first heater and the second heater. The evacuation chamber is evacuated via a first vacuum pump, and the insulated structure is evacuated via a second vacuum pump.

A gasket is configured to fit over the engagement member and includes a coupling portion defining first and second retention spaces. The first retention space is configured to receive the first retention ridge, and the second retention space is configured to receive the second retention ridge. A contact portion is integrally formed with the coupling portion and is configured to at least partially abut the cabinet when the door is closed.
