Provided are a latent heat storage material having a melting point within a prescribed temperature range; a latent heat. The latent heat storage material includes a compound (A) represented by a formula (A), an inorganic salt (B) represented by a formula (B) and composed of a cation of an alkali metal and an anion of the same element as the anion of the quaternary alkyl salt, and water. The compound (A) is a material that forms a clathrate hydrate together with the water, the composition ratio of the compound (A) and water is a composition ratio that gives a congruent melting point of the clathrate hydrate, and the molar ratio of the inorganic salt (B) to the compound (A) is 0.1 or more and 10 or less.

SYSTEMS FOR STORING AND/OR TRANSPORTING TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE PAYLOADS

In one aspect, systems for storing and/or transporting a payload are described herein. In some embodiments, systems have a portable storage vessel having an internal cavity, the internal cavity having: a central zone for receiving the payload; a first cooling zone disposed radially outward from the central recess, with a first phase change material disposed in the first cooling zone; a second cooling zone disposed radially outward from the first cooling zone, with a second phase change material disposed in the second cooling zone, wherein the first phase change material has a first phase transition temperature; wherein the second phase change material has a second phase transition temperature; and wherein the second phase transition temperature is between 10 C. and 15 C. higher than the first phase transition temperature; and wherein each of the first phase transition temperature and the second phase transition temperature are below 0 C.

Container construction

The invention is a bottle or container for a beverage, which is configured with an upper and lower compartment connected by a waist portion that defines a passage therebetween. Through the use of an appropriately configured freezing shelf, the beverage held in the lower compartment can be frozen at point of sale. The bottle is specifically configured to, upon activation, create a pinch point between the waist portion of the bottle and the punt of the lower compartment. This pinch point is achieved through controlled deformation of part of the lower compartment and/or waist portion of the bottle and effectively seals the lower compartment, and its contents, from the upper compartment, or at the very least significantly restricts the passage between the two compartments. Convection circulation between the two compartments is prevented or at least hindered. The isolation of the lower compartment from the upper compartment by virtue of the pinch point may leads to quicker crystallization and ice formation. The invention is advantageous it means that the beverage contained in the upper compartment can be held at a higher temperature and thus is easier to consume at the time of purchase and allowing some time for the beverage in the lower compartment to melt and in due course become consumable.

A storage system that includes a contents container and a thermal battery, each in thermal communication with a thermal moderator that is constructed and arranged to balance the thermal energy flow between the contents container and the environment with the thermal energy flow between the contents container and the thermal battery. The thermal moderator can include a super-insulating material, a phase change material and/or a heat pipe. The storage system may help to maintain stored contents within a desired temperature range for an extended period of time, while minimizing the likelihood of damage to the contents due to an initial temperature of the thermal battery being outside of the desired temperature range.
