Pretreatment and Pre-Cooling of Natural Gas by High Pressure Compression and Expansion
20210086099 · 2021-03-25 ·

A method and apparatus for producing liquefied natural gas. A portion of a natural gas stream is cooled in a heat exchanger and combined with the natural gas stream. Heavy hydrocarbons are removed from the combined natural gas stream, and the resulting separated natural gas stream is partially condensed in the first heat exchanger, with a liquid stream separated therefrom. The natural gas stream is warmed in the first heat exchanger and then is compressed and cooled. The resultant cooled compressed natural gas stream is expanded, thereby forming a chilled natural gas stream that is separated into a refrigerant stream and a non-refrigerant stream. The refrigerant stream recycled to the heat exchanger to be warmed through heat exchange with one or more process streams associated with pretreating the natural gas stream, thereby generating a warmed refrigerant stream. The warmed refrigerant stream and the non-refrigerant stream are liquefied.

SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR NATURAL GAS LIQUEFACTION

Systems and processes for natural gas processing, liquefaction, and storage are described. The systems and processes include one or more arrangements of features which are capable of liquefying all of the gas entering an inlet of the system or a portion of the entering gas. The portion of the entering gas that is liquefied can vary based on the pressure of an outlet of the system, which can be fixed or vary based on usage downstream.

A method and apparatus for producing liquefied natural gas. A portion of a natural gas stream is cooled in a first heat exchanger and re-combined with the natural gas stream, and heavy hydrocarbons are removed therefrom to generate a separated natural gas stream and a separator bottom stream. Liquids are separated from the separator bottom stream to form an overhead stream, which is cooled and separated to form a recycle gas stream. The recycle gas stream is compressed. A first portion of the compressed recycle gas stream is directed through the first heat exchanger and directed to the separator as a column reflux stream. The separated to natural gas stream is used as a coolant in the first heat exchanger to thereby generate a pretreated natural gas stream, which is compressed and liquefied.

The heat exchanger is for cooling a feed natural gas stream to obtain a cooled natural gas stream. The first supersonic chiller is for chilling the cooled natural gas stream to produce liquefied natural gas and output at least a portion of chilled gaseous natural gas to the heat exchanger to be heated to obtain a heated natural gas stream. The compression unit is for compressing the heated natural gas stream from the heat exchanger and providing a compressed natural gas stream to the heat exchanger to be cooled together with the feed natural gas stream by heat exchanging with the at least a portion of the chilled gaseous natural gas.

Increasing efficiency in an LNG production system by pre-cooling a natural gas feed stream

Described herein are systems and processes to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) using liquefied nitrogen (LIN) as the refrigerant. Greenhouse gas contaminants are removed from the LIN using a greenhouse gas removal unit. The LNG is compressed prior to being cooled by the LIN.

An apparatus, system and method for reliquefaction of previously regasified LNG are described. A natural gas reliquefaction method includes regasifying LNG onboard a FSRU to form high pressure regasified LNG (HP RLNG), delivering the HP RLNG to a natural gas pipeline that commingles with a natural gas grid, flowing the HP RLNG through a lateral, wherein the lateral diverts HP RLNG from the natural gas pipeline to an expander prior to commingling with the natural gas grid, expanding the natural gas with the expander to obtain low pressure regasified LNG (LP RLNG), liquefying the LP RLNG in a cold box of a nitrogen expansion loop to produce low pressure LNG, and transmitting the LNG to a cryogenic cargo tank onboard an LNG tanker truck.

TWO-STAGE HEAVIES REMOVAL IN LNG PROCESSING

Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for processing liquefied natural gas (LNG). In one implementation, a feed gas is received and partially condensed into a two-phase stream by expanding the feed gas. A liquid containing fouling components is removed from the two-phase stream. A vapor generated from the two-phase stream is compressed into a compressed feed gas. The compressed feed gas is directed into a feed chiller heat exchanger. The compressed feed gas is free of the fouling components.

Gas liquefaction column
10859314 · 2020-12-08 ·

An apparatus and process for the compression, expansion, evaporation, and liquefaction of gases or gaseous mixtures consisting of a gas liquefaction column comprising successive chambers made of balloons resembling those used in pneumatic suspensions, and double-piston bases in between the upper and lower end of each chamber. Some of the double-piston bases are fixed while others in between are mobile. The group of mobile double-piston bases is activated in a linear to-and-fro vertical stroke while the other group of double-piston bases remains stationary. This results in consecutive suction and compression of the chambers, creating a Joule-Thomson effect at each of them. This results in the cooling and liquefaction of the gas or gaseous mixture. The apparatus also comprises humidity extractors, and different types of valves and piping.
