CRYOGENIC LIQUID ENERGY STORAGE
Apparatus, systems, and methods use cryogenic liquids such as, for example, liquefied natural gas and liquefied air or liquefied air components to store thermal energy. The cryogenic liquids may be produced using electrically powered liquefaction methods, for example, using excess electric power during periods of over-generation on the electric grid.

Each liquefier arrangement comprises separate and independent nitrogen recycle circuits or loops, including a warm recycle circuit and a cold recycle circuit with a means for diverting nitrogen refrigerant between the two recycle circuits or loops. The warm recycle circuit includes a booster loaded warm turbine, a warm booster compressor and warm recycle compression whereas the cold recycle circuit includes a booster loaded cold turbine, a cold booster compressor and a separate cold recycle compression.
Boil-off gas re-liquefying device and method for ship
Disclosed is a re-liquefying device using a boil-off gas as a cooling fluid so as to re-liquefy the boil-off gas generated from a liquefied gas storage tank provided in a ship. A boil-off gas re-liquefying device for a ship comprises: a multi-stage compression unit for compressing boil-off gas generated from a liquefied gas storage tank; a heat exchanger in which the boil-off gas generated from the storage tank and the boil-off gas compressed exchange heat; a vaporizer for heat exchanging the boil-off gas cooled by the heat exchanger and a separate liquefied gas supplied to a fuel demand source of a ship, and thus cooling the boil-off gas; an intermediate cooler for cooling the boil-off gas that has been cooled by the heat exchanger; and an expansion means for branching a part of the boil-off gas, which is supplied to the intermediate cooler, and expanding the same.
Advanced Method of Heavy Hydrocarbon Removal and Natural Gas Liquefaction Using Closed-Loop Refrigeration System
A natural gas liquefaction system and method for effectively and efficiently removing heavy hydrocarbons and converting natural gas into liquefied natural gas. Natural gas streams entering the system may consist of varied gas compositions, pressures, and temperatures. In embodiments the system may comprise a natural gas (NG)-to-liquefied natural gas (LNG) portion and a closed-loop refrigeration portion comprising a closed-loop single mixed refrigerant system. In other embodiments the system may comprise an NG-to-LNG portion and a closed-loop refrigeration portion comprising a closed-loop gaseous nitrogen expansion refrigeration system. All embodiments utilize an integrated heat exchanger with cold-end and warm-end sections and integrated multi-stage compressor and expander configurations (e.g. compander) in order to increase overall operation flexibility and efficiency. This optimized method and system is capable of more efficiently producing a liquefied natural gas product at a desired capacity using a minimum amount of equipment and a modularized design to reduce construction costs.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NATURAL GAS AND NITROGEN LIQUEFACTION WITH DUAL OPERATING MODES
Liquefier arrangements configured for co-production of both liquid natural gas (LNG) and liquid nitrogen (LIN) configured to operate in two distinct operating modes are provided.
METHOD FOR OPERATING A RELIQUEFACTION SYSTEM
A method for increasing the reliability and availability of a cryogenic fluid reliquefaction system is provided. It may comprise at least N sub-coolers comprising a motor and a compressor and at least one variable speed. It may comprise N−1 variable speed systems to be shared between the motors and compressors if N equals 2, or N−2 variable speed systems to be shared between the motors and compressors if N is greater than 2. It may comprise two different liquid cryogenic fluid users are provided liquid cryogenic fluid, utilizing two different main cryogenic tanks, with a common sub-cooler and recirculation loop, wherein the pressure in the two different main cryogenic tanks are controlled with pressure controllers acting on two different subcooled liquid cryogenic fluid valves. And or, it may comprise at least one liquid cryogenic fluid user is provided refrigeration from two or more sub-cooling systems in a lead-lag arrangement.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NATURAL GAS AND NITROGEN LIQUEFACTION WITH DIRECT DRIVE MACHINES FOR TURBINES AND BOOSTERS
Liquefier arrangements configured for co-production of both liquid natural gas (LNG) and liquid nitrogen (LIN) configured to operate using direct drive motor/generator arrangement for the warm and/or cold booster compressors and turbines. Alternatively, the use of a conventional generator with a bull gear in lieu of the direct drive motor/generator arrangement on the warm turbine and warm booster compressor coupling is also disclosed.
Reliquefaction device
Provided is a reliquefaction device with which a gas gasified from a liquid can be efficiently reliquefied. A plurality of flow passages include: a mixing flow passage which is connected to the downstream end section of one among a liquid flow passage and a gas flow passage and allows a fluid mixture to flow so that a reliquefaction promoting liquid flowing through the liquid flow passage and a reliquefaction target gas flowing through the gas flow passage are mixed and the reliquefaction of the reliquefaction target gas is promoted by direct heat exchange; and a gas cooling flow passage which allows a coolant to flow and cool the reliquefaction target gas by indirect heat exchange with the reliquefaction target gas through a separation wall, thereby suppressing the gasification of the reliquefaction promoting liquid when the reliquefaction target gas is mixed with the reliquefaction promoting liquid flowing through the liquid flow passage.
Pretreatment and pre-cooling of natural gas by high pressure compression and expansion
A method and apparatus for producing liquefied natural gas. A portion of a natural gas stream is cooled in a first heat exchanger and re-combined with the natural gas stream, and heavy hydrocarbons are removed therefrom to generate a separated natural gas stream and a separator bottom stream. Liquids are separated from the separator bottom stream to form an overhead stream, which is cooled and separated to form a recycle gas stream. The recycle gas stream is compressed. A first portion of the compressed recycle gas stream is directed through the first heat exchanger and directed to the separator as a column reflux stream. The separated to natural gas stream is used as a coolant in the first heat exchanger to thereby generate a pretreated natural gas stream, which is compressed and liquefied.
