SPLIT FLOW INTEGRATED LNG PRODUCTION (SFI-LNG)
Processes for purifying and liquefying natural gas in conjunction and integration with cryogenic processing natural gas to recover natural gas liquids (NGL) is disclosed. In the process, the natural gas stream to be purified and liquefied is taken from top outlet stream of demethanizer in the cryogenic NGL recovery plant, first purified and then cooled under moderate pressure to condense it as a liquefied natural gas (LNG) product stream. Some of the cooling required for the demethanizer reflux stream is provided by natural gas liquefaction section before supplied to top of the column to serve as reflux. The top outlet stream from the demethanizer preferentially contains up to 3 mole percent of CO.sub.2 and the majority of methane and small portion of any hydrocarbon heavier than methane, a split portion of this stream is taken and routed to cryogenic CO.sub.2 removal section, in which a molecular sieve that forms a physical adsorption column is used to extract pure CO.sub.2 as a product stream, then purified stream is routed to the liquefaction section where only two stages of coil-wound exchangers with a Semi-C3-MR cycle are used to liquefy natural gas. This present invention process is suited for LNG production in small-scale. This zeolite-based small-scale LNG process can be integrated with the design of any new natural gas facility and the technology can also be retrofitted to existing natural gas liquid (NGL) recovery plants, allowing for co-production of LNG and CO.sub.2 with high purity.
Integral fuel and heat sink refrigerant synthesis for prime movers and liquefiers
A system for renewable energy storage, providing integral synthesis of heat source cryo-fuel and heat sink refrigerant for distributed electric generation and motor vehicle prime movers and refrigerant liquefiers. Fuel synthesis is by gasification and anaerobic digestion of organic feedstock with heat recovery to drive thermo-chemical reactor and air and fuel liquefiers.
METHOD FOR COOLING A HEAT EXCHANGER OF A GAS SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR A GAS-CONSUMING APPARATUS OF A SHIP
A method for supplying gas to a gas-consuming apparatus provided on a ship including a tank containing the gas in the liquid state and in the gaseous state, in which the method includes: supplying the gas-consuming apparatus with gas withdrawn in the gaseous state from the tank and by a supply unit; condensing at least a part of the gas withdrawn in the gaseous state from the tank by a condensation unit having at least one heat exchanger configured to perform a heat exchange between gas withdrawn between the supply unit and the gas-consuming apparatus and gas flowing between the tank and the supply unit; and cooling the heat exchanger prior to the condensing and at least partially simultaneously with the supplying.
Carbon dioxide transport and sequestration marine vessel
A marine vessel and method for carbon capture and sequestration are described. The marine vessel includes a buoyant hull, a cryogenic storage tank within the hull, and a gaseous carbon dioxide loading manifold. The marine vessel also includes a carbon dioxide liquefaction system in fluid communication with the cryogenic storage tank downstream of the carbon dioxide liquefaction system and with the gaseous carbon dioxide loading manifold upstream of the carbon dioxide liquefaction system. Finally, the marine vessel includes a carbon dioxide supercritical system in fluid communication with the cryogenic storage tank. In operation, the marine vessel moves between multiple locations, where gaseous carbon dioxide is onboarded, liquified and stored. Thereafter, the marine vessel transports the liquified carbon dioxide to a location adjacent an offshore geological reservoir. The liquefied carbon dioxide is then pressurized to produce supercritical carbon dioxide, which is then injected directly into the reservoir from the marine vessel.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RELIQUEFACTION OF BOIL-OFF GAS OF VESSEL
An apparatus for reliquefaction of boil-off gas for a vessel, comprises: a compression unit for compressing the boil-off gas discharged from the storage tank; and a heat exchanger for heat-exchanging the compressed boil-off gas compressed by the compression unit with the boil-off gas discharged from the storage tank; a first expansion means for dividing the boil-off gas passing through the heat exchanger into at least two flows including a first flow and a second flow, and expanding the divided first flow; a first intercooler for cooling the second flow remaining after the division of the first flow by using the first flow expanded by the expansion means as a refrigerant; and a receiver for receiving a second flow having passed through the first intercooler, in which a downstream pressure of the compression unit is controlled by a flow discharged from the receiver.
Ship
A ship including a storage tank for storing a liquefied gas includes: a boil-off gas (BOG) heat exchanger installed on a downstream of a storage tank and heat-exchanges a compressed BOG (a first fluid) by a BOG discharged from the storage tank as a refrigerant, to cool the BOG; a compressor installed on a downstream of the BOG heat exchanger and compresses a part of the BOG discharged from the storage tank; an extra compressor installed on a downstream of the BOG heat exchanger and in parallel with the compressor and compresses the other part of the BOG discharged from the storage tank; a refrigerant heat exchanger which additionally cools the first fluid cooled by the BOG heat exchanger; and a refrigerant decompressing device which expands a second fluid sent to the refrigerant heat exchanger, and then sends the second fluid back to the refrigerant heat exchanger.
