Method Of Cooling Boil Off Gas And An Apparatus Therefor
A method of cooling a boil off gas stream (01) from a liquefied cargo having a boiling point of greater than −110° C. when measured at 1 atmosphere in a liquefied cargo tank (50) in a floating transportation vessel, said method comprising at least the steps of: compressing a boil off gas stream (01) from said liquefied cargo in two or more stages of compression comprising at least a first compression stage (65) and a final compression stage (75) to provide a compressed BOG discharge stream (06), wherein said first compression stage (65) has a first stage suction pressure and said final compression stage (75) has a final stage suction pressure; cooling the compressed BOG discharge stream (06) against one or more first coolant streams (202, 302) to provide a first cooled compressed BOG stream (08); providing a gaseous vent stream (51) from the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08); cooling the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08) against a second coolant stream (33) to provide a second cooled compressed BOG stream (35); expanding a portion of the second cooled compressed BOG stream (35) to the first stage suction pressure or below to provide a first expanded cooled BOG stream (33); using the first expanded cooled BOG stream (33) as the second coolant stream to provide a first expanded heated BOG stream (38); and cooling the gaseous vent stream (51) against the second coolant stream (33) to provide a cooled vent stream (53), wherein cooling of the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08) and cooling of the gaseous vent stream (51) occurs in a heat exchanger located adjacent to the liquefied cargo tank (50).
Hydrogen Liquefaction with Stored Hydrogen Refrigeration Source
A system and method for liquefying a hydrogen gas feed stream uses a high-pressure hydrogen stream from a storage source to provide refrigeration to the system. After providing refrigeration to the system, the hydrogen from the high-pressure storage source is at a pressure not lower than the pressure of a cold box feed stream of the system, where the cold box feed stream includes the hydrogen gas feed stream and at least one recycle stream, and is not recycled back through the system but instead exits the system.
Managing Make-Up Gas Composition Variation for a High Pressure Expander Process
A method for liquefying a feed gas stream. A refrigerant stream is cooled and expanded to produce an expanded, cooled refrigerant stream. Part or all of the expanded, cooled refrigerant stream is mixed with a make-up refrigerant stream in a separator, thereby condensing heavy hydrocarbon components from the make-up refrigerant stream and forming a gaseous expanded, cooled refrigerant stream. The gaseous expanded, cooled refrigerant stream passes through a heat exchanger zone to form a warm refrigerant stream. The feed gas stream is passed through the heat exchanger zone to cool at least part of the feed gas stream by indirect heat exchange with the expanded, cooled refrigerant stream, thereby forming a liquefied gas stream. The warm refrigerant stream is compressed to produce the compressed refrigerant stream.
APPARATUS FOR LARGE HYDROGEN LIQUEFACTION SYSTEM
A hydrogen liquefaction apparatus is provided. The apparatus can include: one or more precooling zones; a plurality of liquefaction zones; a precooling refrigeration cycle configured to provide refrigeration to the precooling zone; and a cold end refrigeration cycle configured to provide refrigeration to the plurality of liquefaction zones, wherein the cold end refrigeration cycle comprises a common recycle compression system, wherein there are M total one or more precooling zones and N total liquefaction zones, wherein M is less than N.
Integrated cascade process for vaporization and recovery of residual LNG in a floating tank application
Methods and systems for vaporizing and recovering LNG are provided. One method includes: a) heating at least a portion of the LNG to provide a boil-off gas stream and a liquid quench stream; b) routing the boil-off gas stream and the liquid quench stream to a quench system, wherein the quench system cools the boil-off gas stream to provide a quenched stream; and c) compressing the quenched stream to provide a compressed quenched stream.
Configurations and methods for small scale LNG production
A small scale natural gas liquefaction plant is integrated with an LNG loading facility in which natural gas is liquefied using a multi-stage gas expansion cycle. LNG is then loaded onto an LNG truck or other LNG transport vehicle at the loading facility using a differential pressure control system that uses compressed boil off gas as a motive force to move the LNG from the LNG storage tank to the LNG truck so as to avoid the use of an LNG pump and associated equipment as well as to avoid venting of boil off vapors into the environment.
Hydrogen Liquefier
Hydrogen is liquefied through a process utilizing refrigeration from hydrogen at one, two, or three different pressures as well as a nitrogen refrigeration cycle. One or more stages of catalyst are used to convert ortho-hydrogen to para-hydrogen as the hydrogen is cooled and liquefied. Subcooled liquid hydrogen feeds the final stage of ortho-hydrogen to para-hydrogen conversion to reduce or eliminate vaporization of the hydrogen during the exothermic ortho-hydrogen to para-hydrogen conversion.
