MIXED REFRIGERANT HYDROGEN LIQUEFACTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING SAME

The present disclosure designs a mixed refrigerant hydrogen liquefaction device including a normal-pressure precooling cold box, a vacuum cryogenic cold box, a hydrogen refrigeration cycle compressor unit, a nitrogen cycle refrigeration unit and a mixed refrigerant cycle refrigeration unit. The precooling section uses a mixed refrigerant process and a nitrogen cycle refrigeration process as the main sources of cold energy. The refrigerant refrigeration cycle is the main source of cold energy in the temperature range of 303K to 113K. The liquid nitrogen refrigeration cycle is the main source of cold energy in the temperature range of 130K to 80K. The hydrogen refrigeration cycle provides cold energy for the temperature range of 80K to 20K. Most of the BOG generated in a storage part is recovered by an ejector. A plate-fin heat exchanger is filled with ortho-para hydrogen conversion catalysts to realize the para hydrogen content of liquefied hydrogen ≥98%.

A method of cooling a boil off gas stream (01) from a liquefied cargo having a boiling point of greater than −110° C. when measured at 1 atmosphere in a liquefied cargo tank (50) in a floating transportation vessel, said method comprising at least the steps of: compressing a boil off gas stream (01) from said liquefied cargo in two or more stages of compression comprising at least a first compression stage (65) and a final compression stage (75) to provide a compressed BOG discharge stream (06), wherein said first compression stage (65) has a first stage suction pressure and said final compression stage (75) has a final stage suction pressure; cooling the compressed BOG discharge stream (06) against one or more first coolant streams (202, 302) to provide a first cooled compressed BOG stream (08); providing a gaseous vent stream (51) from the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08); cooling the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08) against a second coolant stream (33) to provide a second cooled compressed BOG stream (35); expanding a portion of the second cooled compressed BOG stream (35) to the first stage suction pressure or below to provide a first expanded cooled BOG stream (33); using the first expanded cooled BOG stream (33) as the second coolant stream to provide a first expanded heated BOG stream (38); and cooling the gaseous vent stream (51) against the second coolant stream (33) to provide a cooled vent stream (53), wherein cooling of the first cooled compressed BOG stream (08) and cooling of the gaseous vent stream (51) occurs in a heat exchanger located adjacent to the liquefied cargo tank (50).

The invention relates to a method (100) for the electrolytic production of a liquid hydrogen product (4), in which a water-containing feed is subjected to an electrolysis (E) while receiving an anode raw gas (3), rich in oxygen and containing hydrogen, and a cathode raw gas (2) which is depleted of oxygen and rich in hydrogen, wherein the cathode raw gas (2) downstream of the electrolysis (E) is subjected to a purification (R), a compression (K), and a liquefaction (L), characterized in that the cathode raw gas (2) at least partially undergoes intermediate storage (Z) downstream of the electrolysis (E) and upstream of the liquefaction (L). A corresponding installation is also proposed.

LIQUEFIED GAS COOLING APPARATUS

A liquefied gas cooling apparatus including: a gas flow path for carrying a liquefied gas that is liquefied by cooling; and a refrigeration unit including a refrigerating cycle formed by an evaporator for cooling the liquefied gas flowing through the gas flow path, a compressor, a condenser, and a throttle expansion unit. The compressor is driven through an electric motor contained in a sealed housing together with a compressor mechanism.

LIQUEFIED GAS COOLING APPARATUS

A liquefied gas cooling apparatus includes: a gas flow path for carrying a liquefied gas that is liquefied by cooling; and a refrigeration unit including a refrigerating cycle formed by an evaporator for cooling the liquefied gas flowing through the gas flow path, a compressor, a condenser, and a throttle expansion unit. The refrigeration unit includes: an inlet-side open/close valve and an outlet-side open/close valve provided in an inlet path and an outlet path of the compressor, respectively; and a service open/close valve in a refrigerant path between the inlet-side open/close valve and the outlet-side open/close valve.

A gas recovery system for a compressor, said gas recovery system being equipped with: a distillation column that brings a supply gas in a liquid state into contact with a mixed gas, thereby cooling and liquefying a process gas in the mixed gas, and heating and gasifying the liquid supply gas; a process gas recovery line that is connected to the lower part of the distillation column and recovers the liquid process gas discharged from the distillation column; and a supply gas recovery line that is connected to the upper part of the distillation column and recovers the gaseous supply gas discharged from the distillation column.

Refrigerant Compressing Process with Cooled Motor

A cooling system is provided for cooling a motor that drives a compressor in a liquefaction system. The coolant used for cooling the motor includes portions of a discharge from a compressor. The coolant for the motor is generated from a vapor component of the discharge from the compressor. The discharge from the compressor is cooled and the vapor component is separated from a liquid component and treated prior to being introduced into the motor. Remaining portions of the discharge from the compressor are routed to cold boxes producing a compressed refrigerant.

A refrigerant circuit includes a first compression stage for compressing a mixed refrigerant gas, the first compression stage including at least a first compressor body and a second parallel compressor body, each compressor body including a suction inlet and an outlet, a first distribution means for splitting the flow of refrigerant gas to the first stage of compression across the at least two parallel compressor bodies, such that a first stream of refrigerant gas is fed to the suction inlet of the first compressor body and a second stream of refrigerant gas is fed to the suction inlet of the second compressor body, a second compression stage for compressing the mixed refrigerant gas, and a first merging means for recombining the first stream of refrigerant gas with the second stream of refrigerant gas downstream of the first compression stage for delivery to the second compression stage.

A process for producing liquefied natural gas, in which natural gas feed having methane and higher hydrocarbons including benzene is cooled down to a first temperature level in a first cooling step using a first mixed coolant and then subjected to a countercurrent absorption using an absorption liquid to form a methane-enriched and benzene-depleted gas fraction, wherein a portion of the gas fraction is cooled down to a second temperature level in a second cooling step using a second mixed coolant and liquefied to give the liquefied natural gas. In the plant proposed, the first and second mixed coolants are low in propane or free of propane, and the absorption liquid is formed from a further portion of the gas fraction which is condensed above the countercurrent absorption and returned to the countercurrent absorption without pumping. The present invention likewise provides a corresponding plant.
