Dual column nitrogen producing air separation unit with split kettle reboil and integrated condenser-reboiler
Enhancements to a dual column, nitrogen producing cryogenic air separation unit are provided. Such enhancements include an improved air separation cycle that uses multiple condenser-reboilers and recycles a portion of the vapor from one or more of the condenser-reboilers to the incoming feed stream and or the compressed purified air streams to yield improvements in such dual column, nitrogen producing cryogenic air separation units. The multiple condenser-reboilers preferably include an integrated condenser-reboiler arrangement comprising a heat exchanger having a set of nitrogen condensing passages, a first set and second set of boiling passages, and a phase separator.
Process for separating hydrocarbon compounds
Disclosed herein are processes for producing and separating ethane and ethylene. In some embodiments, an oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) product gas comprising ethane and ethylene is introduced to a separation unit comprising two separators. Within the separation unit, the OCM product gas is separated to provide a C.sub.2-rich effluent, a methane-rich effluent, and a nitrogen-rich effluent. Advantageously, in some embodiments the separation is achieved with little or no external refrigeration requirement.
Ethylene-to-liquids systems and methods
Integrated systems are provided for the production of higher hydrocarbon compositions, for example liquid hydrocarbon compositions, from methane using an oxidative coupling of methane system to convert methane to ethylene, followed by conversion of ethylene to selectable higher hydrocarbon products. Integrated systems and processes are provided that process methane through to these higher hydrocarbon products.
Integrated Nitrogen Removal in the Production of Liquefied Natural Gas Using Intermediate Feed Gas Separation
A method and apparatus for liquefying a natural gas feed stream and removing nitrogen therefrom to produce a nitrogen-depleted LNG product, in which a natural gas feed stream is fed into the warm end of a main heat exchanger, cooled and at least partially liquefied, withdrawn from an intermediate location of the main heat exchanger and separated to form a nitrogen-enriched natural gas vapor stream and a nitrogen-depleted natural gas liquid stream, the liquid and vapor streams being reintroduced into an intermediate location of the main heat exchanger and further cooled in parallel to form a first LNG stream and a first at least partially liquefied nitrogen-enriched natural gas stream, respectively.

Treatment Of Nitrogen-Rich Natural Gas Streams
Helium can be recovered from nitrogen-rich natural gas at high pressure with low helium loss by cryogenic distillation of the natural gas after pre-treatment of the gas to remove incompatible impurities and then recovery of natural gas liquid (NGL) from the pre-treated gas by distillation. Overall power consumption may be reduced, particularly if the feed to the helium recovery column system is at least substantially condensed by indirect heat exchange against a first portion of nitrogen-enriched bottoms liquid at first pressure, and a second portion of nitrogen-enriched bottoms liquid at a second pressure that is different from the first pressure.
Recovery Of Helium From Nitrogen-Rich Streams
Overall power consumption in a cryogenic distillation process for recovering helium from nitrogen-rich gases comprising helium may be reduced if the feed to the distillation column system is at least substantially condensed by indirect heat exchange against a first bottoms liquid at first pressure, and a second bottoms liquid at a second pressure that is different from the first pressure.
System and method for removing excess nitrogen from gas subcooled expander operations
A system and method for removing nitrogen from an intermediate stream in a gas subcooled process operation that processes natural gas into a sales gas stream and a natural gas liquids stream. The system and method of the invention are particularly suitable for use with gas subcooled process operations where the sales gas stream exceeds pipeline nitrogen specifications by up to about 3%, such as for reducing the nitrogen content of sales gas streams to levels permissible for pipeline transport.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR RECOVERY OF METHANE FROM HYDROCARBON STREAMS
The invention relates to a method for recovery of methane from hydrocarbon streams comprising the following steps: a. Introducing a feed fluid stream (F), which comprises methane fluid, at least one hydrocarbon free fluid, wherein in particular said at least one hydrocarbon free fluid is nitrogen, and at least one hydrocarbon fluid, into a demethanizer system (1); b. Separating said feed fluid stream (F) in the demethanizer system (1) into a carbon rich fraction (C), comprising hydrocarbons with a carbon content of C2 and higher, and a separation stream (S), comprising methane fluid and at least one hydrocarbon free fluid; c. Introducing said separation stream (S) into a hydrocarbon-free fluid separation system (2), in particular in a cryogenic hydrocarbon-free fluid separation system (2′), more particularly into a cryogenic nitrogen rejection system (2″); wherein said separation stream (S) is compressed by a compressor system (6) before said separation stream (S) is introduced in said hydrocarbon-free fluid separation system (2), wherein said separation stream is compressed to a pressure of 12 bar to 80 bar; d. Separating said separation stream (S) in said free fluid separation system (2) into a methane stream (M) and a hydrocarbon-free fluid stream (HF) and a respective system for recovery of methane from hydrocarbon streams.
Integrated nitrogen removal in the production of liquefied natural gas using dedicated reinjection circuit
A method and apparatus for liquefying a natural gas feed stream and removing nitrogen therefrom to produce a nitrogen-depleted LNG product, in which a natural gas feed stream is passed through main heat exchanger to produce a first LNG stream, which is separated to form a nitrogen-depleted LNG product and a recycle stream composed of nitrogen-enriched natural gas vapor, and in which the recycle stream is passed through main heat exchanger to produce a first LNG stream, separately from and in parallel with the natural gas feed stream, to produce a first at least partially liquefied nitrogen-enriched natural gas stream that is separated to provide a nitrogen-rich vapor product.
