Systems and methods for production and separation of hydrogen and carbon dioxide
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods useful for providing one or more chemical compounds in a substantially pure form. In particular, the systems and methods can be configured for separation of carbon dioxide from a process stream, such as a process stream in a hydrogen production system. As such, the present disclosure can provide systems and method for production of hydrogen and/or carbon dioxide.
Purification and liquefaction of biogas by combination of a crystallization system with a liquefaction exchanger
Plant and process for the production of liquid methane from a feed gas stream comprising at least methane and carbon dioxide. A feed gas stream is injected into a CO.sub.2 crystallizer in countercurrent fashion against a stream of predominantly liquid methane, thereby crystallizing amounts of carbon dioxide from the feed gas stream. Gaseous methane recovered from the CO.sub.2 crystallizer is liquefied at a liquefaction exchanger.
SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR RECOVERING METHANE AND CARBON DIOXIDE FROM BIOGAS AND REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
Various illustrative embodiments of a system and process for recovering high-quality biomethane and carbon dioxide product streams from biogas sources and utilizing or sequestering the product streams are provided. The system and process synergistically yield a biomethane product which meets gas pipeline quality specifications and a carbon dioxide product of a quality and form that allows for its transport and sequestration or utilization and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The system and process result in improved access to gas pipelines for products, an improvement in the carbon intensity rating of the methane fuel, and improvements in generation of credits related to reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases.
PRODUCING CARBON DIOXIDE WITH WASTE HEAT
Techniques for providing carbon dioxide include generating thermal energy, an exhaust fluid, and electrical power from a power plant; providing the exhaust fluid and the generated electrical power to an exhaust fluid scrubbing system to separate components of the exhaust fluid; capturing heat from a source of heat of an industrial process in a heating fluid; transferring the heat of the industrial process captured in the heating fluid to a carbon dioxide source material of a direct air capture (DAC) system; providing the generated electrical power from the power plant to the DAC system; providing the thermal energy from the power plant to the DAC system; and separating, with the transferred portion of the heat of the industrial process and the provided thermal energy, carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide source material of the DAC system.
Methods and Systems for Separating Compounds
Methods and systems for separating a desublimatable compound from hydrocarbons is disclosed. A feed fluid stream, consisting of a hydrocarbon and a desublimatable compound, is passed into an upper chamber of a vessel. The feed fluid stream is cooled in the upper chamber, thereby desublimating a portion of the desublimatable compound out of the feed liquid stream to form a product gas stream and a desublimatable compound snow which is collected in the lower chamber of the vessel. A lower portion of the desublimatable compound snow is melted to form a liquid desublimatable compound stream such that an upper portion of the solid desublimatable compound snow remains as an insulative barrier between the upper chamber and the liquid desublimatable compound stream. The liquid desublimatable compound stream is removed at a rate that matches a production rate of the solid desublimatable compound snow, thereby maintaining the insulative barrier.
CRYOGENIC PROCESS FOR REMOVING NITROGEN FROM A DISCHARGE GAS
A process for producing biomethane by scrubbing a biogas feed stream including introducing a feed gas stream into a pretreatment unit wherein the gas stream is partially separated from a CO.sub.2 stream and an oxygen stream, thereby producing a CO.sub.2-depleted gas stream, which is compressed, thereby producing a pressurized CO.sub.2-depleted gas stream; separating the pressurized CO.sub.2-depleted gas stream by cryogenic separation by introducing the pressurized CO.sub.2-depleted gas stream into a distillation column thereby producing a nitrogen stream and a CH.sub.4-enriched stream, recovering a pressurized CH.sub.4-enriched stream by pumping the CH.sub.4-enriched stream; wherein the separation of the CO.sub.2 stream and the oxygen stream from the feed gas stream is performed by a unit comprising at least two separating membrane stages in order that the CO.sub.2-depleted gas stream comprises between 0.3 mol % and 2 mol % of CO.sub.2.
READY-MIX CONCRETE PRODUCTION UTILIZING CARBON CAPTURE AND RELATED SYSTEMS
An illustrative method for CO2 sequestration may include the step of sequestering at least a portion of a CO2 gas emitted during operation of the ready-mix concrete production system in (i) a ready-mix concrete produced by the read-mix concrete production system, and/or (ii) calcium carbonate formed by processing water used during operation of the ready-mix concrete production and delivery system.
Process and method for transporting liquid hydrocarbon and CO.SUB.2 .for producing hydrogen with CO.SUB.2 .capture
Systems and methods related to loading and unloading stations for simultaneous unloading of a first fluid from at least one storage tank in a vessel and loading of a second fluid into a storage tank of the same vessel are provided. In at least one aspect, a loading and unloading station includes a first connector for fluid connection to a storage tank of the vessel for unloading the first fluid, and a source of the second fluid. The station also includes a second connector for fluidly connecting the source of the second fluid with a storage tank of the vessel for loading the second fluid. The station further includes a first thermal linkage between the first fluid being unloaded and the second fluid being loaded that facilitates heat transfer between the first fluid and the second fluid at the loading and unloading station.
