The recuperative heat exchanger system may include a precool section to cool the exhaust gases, a major heating section to receive the cooled the exhaust gases, and a minor heating section to receive the cooled the exhaust gases.
HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger includes a shell housing a plurality of tubes and defining an exhaust fluid flow path within a first volume enclosed by the shell. The outer surfaces of the plurality of tubes are in fluid communication with the exhaust fluid flow path. The heat exchanger includes a cap attached to a first end of the shell and defining a second volume. A header is configured to separate the first volume from the second volume, flex with thermal expansion, and define tube inlet and outlet positions. The tube inlets and outlets are in fluid communication with a source fluid flow path, and each tube is substantially U-shaped and defines a flow path of the source fluid within the exhaust fluid flow path. The heat exchanger includes at least one longitudinal flow baffle within the shell configured to reduce an amount of exhaust fluid that may bypass the tubes.
POWER CELLS AND HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEMS FOR COMBINED HEAT AND POWER, AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems and related methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the CHP system includes a combustion component and a power cell operably coupled to the combustion component. The power cell can include a first heat exchanger thermally coupled to the combustion component to receive heat; a second heat exchanger; and an electricity generation component with a first portion thermally coupled to the first heat exchanger and a second portion thermally coupled to the second heat exchanger. The electricity generation component is positioned to receive at least a portion of the heat received at the first heat exchanger and generate an electrical output using the received heat. To recycle unused heat from the power cell, the second heat exchanger can be thermally coupleable to a third heat exchanger in a residential heating appliance.
HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger for a gas turbine engine comprising a compressor, a combustor and a turbine. The heat exchanger comprising alternating hot and cold channels. Compressed air from the compressor flows through the cold channels and exhaust gas from the turbine flows through the hot channels. Each cold channel comprises first and second opposing surfaces conveying compressed air along a first path. Each cold channel comprises rows of vortex generators and pin fins extending from the first or second surfaces along the first path. The rows extend substantially perpendicular to the first path. Each hot channel is defined by a first and second opposing surfaces conveying exhaust gas along a second path substantially perpendicular to the first path. Each hot channel comprises rows of vortex generators and pin fins extending from the first or second surfaces along the second path. The rows extend substantially perpendicularly to the second path.
Waste heat recovery units
A waste heat recovery unit includes a duct for hot gas. The duct is divided into first, second and third adjacent and parallel channels each with an inlet and an outlet. A heat exchanger is located in each of the first and third channels. The second channel is located between the first and third channels and provides a bypass channel. A damper system is operable to selectively open and close the inlets of the three channels. This provides a more compact waste heat recovery unit configuration which is more straightforward to manufacture and maintain.
HEAT EXCHANGER AND USE THEREOF
A heat exchanger including a shell extending in a longitudinal direction D from a first end to a second end and including a mantle extending from the first end to the second end, and a solid inner core made of a core material and located inside the shell, the core extending in direction D from a first extremity towards the first end to a second extremity towards the second end. Whereby, at least one first flow path is provided inside the core, each first flow path extending from the first extremity to the second extremity of the core, n circuitous second flow paths extend through the core and/or between the core and the mantle, so that the at least one first flow path is surrounded by the n second flow paths over a non-zero rectilinear distance ΔL in direction D, n being an integer greater than 1.
Process for Enhanced Closed-Circuit Cooling System
An apparatus and method for cooling a gas stream is provided comprising at least one heat exchanger in which a gas stream is cooled against a cooling liquid, whereby the cooling liquid temperature increases from a first temperature to a second temperature, at least one air cooler for cooling the cooling liquid after passing though the at least one heat exchanger, surface area of the at least one air cooler being designed to decrease temperature of the cooling liquid to the first temperature; a pump; and conduits to form a closed-circuit for the cooling liquid to pass continuously through the at least one heat exchanger and the at least one air cooler. The ratio of surface area of the at least one air cooler to the surface area of the at least one heat exchanger is optionally 12 or lower, and the difference of temperature between the second temperature and first temperature being greater than 15° C.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS, FACILITIES AND PROCESSES FOR CO2 POST COMBUSTION CAPTURE INCORPORATED AT A DATA CENTER
Devices, systems, facilities, and methods for post combustion capture of emissions from a natural gas generator used to power a data center disclosed herein. The facility includes a process for capturing and sequestering CO.sub.2 from a post combustion capture of the natural gas generator utilizing the heat from the flue gas and from the data center. The CO.sub.2 rich streams from the post combustion capture system are sent to sequestration of some form via a sequestration compressor, thereby reducing the overall emissions from the facility.
