HEAT EXCHANGER WITH BUILD POWDER IN BARRIER CHANNELS
An additively manufactured heat exchanger configured to transfer heat between a first fluid and a second fluid includes a first channel with a first wall configured to port flow of a first fluid and a second channel with a second wall configured to port flow of a second fluid. The heat exchanger also includes a barrier channel containing unprocessed build powder provided by the additive manufacturing process and is located between the first wall and the second wall. The barrier channel is configured to prevent mixing of the first fluid and the second fluid when one of the first wall and the second wall ruptures.
Water-cooling radiator structure with internal partition member
A water-cooling radiator structure with internal partition member includes a water-cooling radiator unit, which includes a first water-receiving plate defining a first inner space and having a water inlet and a water outlet fluid-communicable with the first inner space. A working fluid flows into the first inner space via the water inlet and leaves the first inner space via the water outlet. The first inner space is internally provided with at least one first partition member, which horizontally divides the first inner space into a plurality of independent water chambers, so that the working fluid sequentially flow through the water chambers.
Supercharger charge air cooler with improved air flow characteristics
A charge air cooler, e.g., as used with a supercharger having meshing rotors in sealing contact with a housing, the housing having an inlet port to admit air into the meshing rotors and the housing having an outlet port to expel air from the meshing rotors, the charge air cooler having an inlet-side core for transmitting the flow of pressurized air, and an outlet-side core receiving the flow of pressurized air transmitted from the inlet-side core and further transmitting the flow of pressurized air, each core having coolant conduits and fins joined to the coolant conduits for contact with the flow of pressurized air, the fins being arranged with a predetermined density, wherein the inlet-side core fin density is lower than the outlet-side core fin density, whereby the inlet-side core presents less resistance to the flow of pressurized air than the outlet-side core and the outlet-side core presents greater surface area for heat conductance from the flow of pressurized air than the inlet-side core. Charge air coolers with this configuration provide improved pressure and temperature characteristics in a supercharger's flow of pressurized air to an engine.
Plate type heat exchanger for exhaust gas
A heat exchanger, in particular exhaust-gas cooler, is described herein. The heat exchanger includes tubes of unipartite form or formed from two plates. The tubes form a first and a second fluid duct, and the respective fluid ducts are arranged adjacent to one another. The first fluid duct is designed to be open at at least one of its ends for the inflow and/or outflow of a first fluid. The second fluid ducts are closed at an end side of the tubes by way of an inward or outward step. The step has a greater extent T in the tube longitudinal direction in the corner regions of the tube than between the corner regions. Several non-limiting descriptive embodiments are disclosed herein.
HEADER PLATELESS TYPE HEAT EXCHANGER
In a header plateless type heat exchanger, to suppress temperature rise at an apical portion of a tube into which exhaust gas at high temperatures or the like flows, to thereby improve durability. A recessed groove portion 4c recessed inward with narrow width is formed on outer face side of each of a pair of plates, in parallel to a swelling portion 4 and in the approximately same length.
FUEL HEAT EXCHANGER WITH A BARRIER
A heat exchanger includes a first channel with at least one first wall for porting a first fluid and a second channel with at least one second wall for porting a second fluid. The heat exchanger includes a barrier chamber located between the at least one first wall and the at least one second wall such that a rupture of one of the at least one first wall and the at least one second wall does not result in mixing of the first fluid and the second fluid. The heat exchanger includes a support member that extends between the at least one first wall and the at least one second wall.
TWO-ORIENTATION CONDENSER FOR ENHANCED GRAVITY DRIVEN FILM CONDENSATION
An enhanced gravity-driven, thin film condensation heat transfer condenser is disclosed for use in a thermosyphon performing in two perpendicular orientations, as well as orientations in between. The thermosyphon includes an evaporator fluidly coupled to a first condenser configured with a plurality of fins, with each of the plurality of fins having notches adjacent to flanges, the notches forming vapor flow channels through the plurality of fins. The first condenser is fluidly coupled to a second condenser, and vapor flowing from the evaporator must first pass through the first condenser before entering the second condenser.
Exhaust gas recirculation cooler
An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler includes: a housing having an exhaust gas inlet and an exhaust gas outlet, a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet, and a plurality of grooves protruding inward from upper and lower surfaces of the housing; a plurality of tubes spaced apart from each other so that exhaust gas flows in the housing; and a plurality of supporters supporting the plurality of tubes in the housing, wherein the plurality of supporters are disposed between an upper surface of the housing and a tube adjacent the upper surface of the housing among the plurality of tubes, between an lower surface of the housing and a tube adjacent the lower surface of the housing among the plurality of tubes, and between the plurality of tubes so that the plurality of supporters are disposed in a space in which the coolant flows inside the housing.
HEAT EXCHANGER RIBLET AND TURBULATOR FEATURES FOR IMPROVED MANUFACTURABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
An additively-manufactured heat exchanger includes fluidly-separated alternating first and second layers having respective flow channels which can include one or more features that is either a riblet or a turbulator. A riblet includes a riblet peak and/or a riblet valley, which has a riblet slope, and the riblet peak and/or riblet valley has a riblet axis that is generally parallel to either the first fluid flow direction or the second fluid flow direction. A turbulator includes a turbulator peak and/or a turbulator valley, which has a turbulator slope, and the turbulator peak and/or turbulator valley has a turbulator axis that is generally perpendicular to either the first fluid flow direction or the second fluid flow direction. The respective slope angles are generally 25-65 deg. relative to build-axis, thereby resulting in improved surface roughness and uniformity control during the build process.
