HEAT EXCHANGER HAVING CURVED FLUID PASSAGES FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE

A heat exchanger for a gas turbine engine includes a heat exchanger body having a first surface and a second surface oriented at least partially at an oblique angle relative to the first surface. The heat exchanger body defines a plenum extending between the first and second surfaces. Furthermore, the heat exchanger body defines a fluid passage extending through the second surface such that the fluid passage is in fluid communication with the plenum. The fluid passage, in turn, includes first and second portions. The first portion intersects the plenum at an intersection and defines a line of projection extending normal to the second surface. The second portion defines a line of projection extending normal to the first surface. The fluid passage further includes a curved portion extending from the first portion to the second portion.

ANNULAR HEAT EXCHANGER

A heat exchanger includes a header and an annular core fluidly connected to the header. The annular core includes an inner diameter, an outer diameter, first flow channels arranged in a first set of layers, and second flow channels arranged in a second set of layers and interleaved with the first flow channels. Each of the first flow channels includes a first inlet, a first outlet, and a first axial region extending between the first inlet and the first outlet. Each of the second flow channels includes a second inlet, a second outlet, and a second axial region extending between the second inlet and the second outlet.

Additively manufactured heat exchanger

A heat exchanger for cooling a component is coupled with a cowl at least partially surrounding the component. The cowl defines a cowl plenum and a peripheral gap for receiving the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a housing defining a heat exchange plenum for receiving a cool fluid stream and a plurality of heat exchange tubes passing through the heat exchange plenum for receiving a hot fluid stream. A discharge manifold defines a discharge plenum that provides fluid communication between the heat exchange plenum and the cowl plenum through a fluid outlet. In addition, an impingement baffle at least partially defines the discharge manifold and defines a plurality of cooling holes for impinging cooling air on the component proximate the heat exchanger.

A support and connection device is for an operating group of a vehicle. The support and connection device is configured for supporting and for fluidic connection with an operating device in turn included in the operating group. The support and connection device identifies a vertical axis and two longitudinal axes and includes at least one plate-shaped unit in which, in the vertical direction, there is at least one mouth for the passage of a working fluid. The plate-shaped unit includes an upper laminar element, a lower laminar element reciprocally stacked along the vertical axis and a hollow space between them. The at least one mouth for fluid passage is defined laterally by a fluid mouth wall constituted by the reciprocal engagement of an upper mouth rim included in the upper laminar element and by a lower mouth rim included in the lower laminar element.

Heat exchanger

A heat exchanger (4) comprises a heat exchanger core (20) comprising first fluid channels (22) and second fluid flow channels (24) for exchange of heat between the first and second fluids. First and second manifold portions (42, 44) are provided to guide the first and second fluids between the first and second fluid flow channels (22, 249 and first and second fluid interface portions (48, 49) which comprise fewer channels than the heat exchanger core (20). The first manifold portion (42) includes at least one tunnel portion (46) extending through the second manifold portion (44) at an angle to the direction of second fluid flow. Hence at least part of the first fluid is directed through the inside of the tunnel portion while the second fluid passes around the outside of the tunnel portion. This enables more compact heat exchanger design.
