Tubes of a tube bundles may extend proximate the bottom of the shell.

A heat exchanger includes a stack of flow conduits. Each flow conduit is configured to conduct a fluid. Parting sheets separate adjacent flow conduits in the stack, providing heat transfer between them. Each of the flow conduits includes vanes extending along a vane path and between top and bottom parting sheets. The vanes are separated from one another, thereby creating flow channels. Each flow conduit also includes a plurality of flow modifiers, each adjacent to a corresponding leading edge of a corresponding vane, so as to cause a disrupted portion of a fluid flow to be incident upon the corresponding leading edge. Each of the flow modifiers includes an aerodynamic portion and a gap portion. The aerodynamic portion extends from at least one of the top and bottom parting sheets. The aerodynamic portion does not connect the top and bottom parting sheets due to the gap portion.

A heat exchange medium introduced into the chamber assembly in an initial line of flow is vertically diverted into two flows to impact the first side of the first and the second medium directing panel member separately. Each diverted heat exchange medium is then further diverted into a pair of divergent arcuate lateral flow, wherein each lateral flow is directed to impact the lateral sides of the chamber assembly. On the respective second sides of the first and the second medium directing panel member, laterally diverted heat exchange medium is directed to collide into each other, where the pair of laterally diverted flows are subsequently merged.

An inlet distributor for a plate heat exchanger is disclosed. The plate heat exchanger includes a plate set. A fluid channel is formed between each two adjacent plates of the plate set, and each plate has first fluid openings and second fluid openings to form inlet channels and outlet channel for fluid to alternatively flow into and out of the fluid channels. The inlet distributor includes a collecting pipe, and at least one horizontal partition plate disposed on the inner wall of the collecting pipe. The collecting pipe can be mounted on an inlet end of the inlet channel, and the horizontal partition plate is coaxially extended into the inlet channels. When the fluid flows into the collecting pipe, the horizontal partition plate separates liquid and vapor of the fluid and guides the vapor to fluid channel in different position away from the inlet end, along the horizontal partition plate.

A liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger includes a coolant volume that is at least partially defined by a plastic housing and by a metal closure plate. The plastic housing is sealingly joined to the closure plate along an outer periphery of the closure plate. The metal closure plate can be part of a brazed assembly that defines a continuous refrigerant flow path through the heat exchanger between a refrigerant inlet port and a refrigerant outlet port.

A shell-and-tube heat exchanger has a cylindrical geometry and comprises a first pressure chamber and a second pressure chamber connected to a common tube-sheet on opposite sides. The tube-sheet is connected to a tube bundle housed in the first pressure chamber and comprising a plurality of U-shaped exchanging tubes. Each U-shaped tube is provided with a first portion and with a second portion. The first pressure chamber contains at least one inner guiding jacket having a cylindrical or pseudo-cylindrical geometry and extending along the major longitudinal axis of the first pressure chamber. The inner guiding jacket surrounds the first portion of each U-shaped tube for at least part of the respective length. The inner guiding jacket is sealingly connected, at a first end thereof, to the tube-sheet. The inner guiding jacket is open at a second end thereof.
