Cooling Tower
Systems and method for delivery and positioning of a sheet-like surgical implant to a target site including a means of deploying and orienting the sheet-like implant within body.
EVAPORATIVE WET SURFACE AIR COOLER
A wet surface air cooler (WSAC), including an evaporative spiral plate heat exchanger for flowing a process medium therethrough, a spray system for spraying a cooling medium directly onto the evaporative spiral plate heat exchanger and a fan for causing air to flow through the evaporative spiral plate heat exchanger, the combination of the sprayed cooling medium onto the evaporative spiral plate heat exchanger and the air flowing therethrough causes the cooling medium to at least partially evaporate to lower the temperature of the process medium.
Packing For Heat and/or Mass Transfer
A packing for heat and/or mass transfer between liquid and gaseous media in counter-flow, in particular for water cooling by air in cooling towers, comprises a plurality of film elements contoured by corrugations. The corrugations provide flow passages and the film elements are successively arranged behind each other in the thickness direction forming points of contact. Adjacent film elements are connected to one another at their points of contact and mutually facing large surfaces of adjacent film elements have a fine contouring. The fine contouring comprises a ribbing with rib webs and rib grooves running transversely to the flow passages. A rib groove is disposed between two adjacent rib webs. The transitions between successive rib webs and rib grooves are designed such that they are substantially free of radii.
TRICKLE STRUCTURES
Trickle bodies for the air conditioning of, in particular, animal housings, that possess only partially latticed layer elements. Trickle bodies are formed of a plurality of sandwiched layer elements that, in known trickle bodies, are formed of corrugated and completely latticed plastics foil. The trickle bodies formed of such layer elements possess a relatively low stability and a limited evaporation capacity. The plastics-formed layer elements of the instant invention are produced by injection molding, allowing layer elements having corrugation heights of more than 12 mm to be formed. Such trickle bodies are more stable, enable a high evaporation capacity and are, moreover, also less permeable to light.
TECHCLEAN DIRECT HEAT EXCHANGE FILL
A fill sheet and a fill pack manufactured from a plurality of fill sheets for cooling a cooling medium in a cooling tower, each fill sheet having a plurality of flutes extending diagonally from top to bottom of the fill sheet, the diagonal orientation of the flutes resulting from a plurality of alternating longer diagonal flute segments and shorter vertical flute segments, each of the plurality of flutes having the microstructure comprising a plurality of alternating rounded mounds and rounded depressions extending between flat ridge edges and flat valley edges of said flutes.
Cooling Tower
A cooling tower for evaporative cooling of water is contained within an ISO-compliant shipping container frame, permitting stacking of cooling towers for transport and for certain industrial applications. A volume of fill media is contained within the frame. Spaced apart troughs underlie the fill media, running substantially the length of the fill media and connecting to a basin. Baffles are connected to one upper edge of the troughs, while an air flow space is positioned over the other upper trough edge. A water distribution system, with variable flow nozzles positioned closely above the fill media, sprays water over the upper surface of the fill media, where it moves by gravity down into the troughs. Fans atop the fill media move air vertically upward through the fill media.
Asymmetric evaporator
A falling film evaporator includes an evaporator housing and a plurality of evaporator tubes disposed in the evaporator housing and arranged into one or more tube bundles, through which a volume of thermal energy transfer medium is flowed. A plurality of tube sheets support the plurality of evaporator tubes. A first wall member and a second wall member extend vertically at opposite lateral sides of the plurality of evaporator tubes. The first wall member and the second wall member define an inner vapor passage therebetween, define a first outer vapor passage between the first wall member and the evaporator housing, and define a second outer vapor passage between the second wall member and the evaporator housing. A first gap between a first wall member lower edge and the plurality of tube sheets is greater than second gap between a second wall member lower edge and the plurality of tube sheets.
HEAT EXCHANGER APPARATUS
The invention relates to a heat exchanger apparatus comprising at least one metal sheet (10) (e.g. aluminium), and preferably a plurality in a stack. Each metal sheet (10) has a corrugated surface, with fabric covering at least a portion of one surface of the metal sheet to promote evaporation. A wetting agent (e.g. LiCl/Polyvinyl-Alcohol (PVA) solution) is provided in the fabric to promote wetting of the fabric, and also acts as an anti-microbial agent. The fabric preferably covers all of the corrugated surface, and two planar portions are provided above and below the corrugated surface respectively. In use, the heat exchanger apparatus is disposed with a long side vertical and the corrugated surface is disposed on a middle portion, the upper planar portion is contiguous with an air outlet, and/or the lower planar portion is contiguous with an air inlet. In a preferred embodiment, the corrugated surface has in cross-section a profile of a periodic waveform, wherein the peak-to-peak distance is 11.6 mm, the amplitude is 2.5 mm, and corrugations intersect the plane of the heat exchanger apparatus at an angle to that plane of 50 degrees. Also disclosed are a cooling system incorporating the heat exchanger apparatus and methods of operating the cooling system, involving intermittently operating a water supply system for the application of water to the fabric, and/or, recirculating water from a water sump using the water supply system.
Cooling tower integrated inlet louver fill
A fill sheet arrangement in a direct heat exchange section of a cooling tower is provided. Each fill sheet includes ridges, grooves, separators, and an air inlet louver zone itself having ridges, grooves and separators, that improve the performance of the fill sheet arrangement when installed as a direct heat exchange section of a cooling tower. The air inlet louver zone improves the air flow capabilities and performance of the direct heat exchange section by limiting the evaporative liquid from leaving the fill sheet.
Packing layer for structured packing
The invention relates to a packing layer (1) for structured packing (20), the packing layer (1) having a plurality of structural elements (2), and the structural elements (2) being shaped and arranged in such a manner that they form a first fine structure (3), and adjacent structural elements (2) having a first spacing (a), the packing layer (1) having a plurality of protrusions (4) that are shaped and arranged in such a manner that they form a second fine structure (5), and adjacent protrusions (4) having a second spacing (b). According to the invention, the structural elements (2) and the protrusions (4) are formed without perforations.
