A tensioning device for a crossbow or the like, such as a harpoon, a line throwing device, a toy crossbow, a pistol crossbow, a spear thrower, or a ballista, includes a shaft and limbs connected thereto. A connection element designed to connect to the shaft of the crossbow has securing devices for rotatably or pivotally securing the limbs. The connection element is connected to at least one drive device which can be connected to the limbs and by which the limbs can be converted rotatably or pivotally from a first position, in which the limbs form a first angle together with the shaft, into a second position, in which the limbs form a second angle together with the shaft, wherein the second angle is larger than the first angle, in order to convert the limbs and a bowstring connected thereto from a non-tensioned position into a tensioned shoot-ready position.

A crossbow including first and second flexible limbs attached to a center rail. A first cam is mounted to the first bow limb and rotatable around a first axis. A draw string is received in string guide journals and is secured to first and second cams. The draw string unwinds from the string guide journals as it translates from a released configuration to a drawn configuration. Power cables are received in first and second power cable take-up journals on each of the first and second cams. As the crossbow is drawn from the released configuration to the drawn configuration the first and second power cables wrap onto the respective first and second power cable take-up journals and are displaced along the first and second axes away from the first and second planes of rotation of the first and second draw string journals.

ARCHERY CROSSBOW PORTABLE PRESS

A portable, compact, collapsible, adjustable, archery crossbow press for high poundage crossbows which have a rifle-like frame with an elongate channel and transverse limbs with outwardly located cams or wheels connected by a bow string. The crossbow press includes two limb clamp assemblies that releasably capture the transverse limbs about the cams. A flexible connector connects the two limb clamp assembles just above the rifle-like frame. A safety hook block fits within the elongate channel rearwardly of the crossbow string and is anchored to the rifle-like frame. A mechanical cocking device pulls the flexible connector rearwardly to secure it to a hook on the anchored safety hook block. Crossbows with a crank-type cocking device utilize a slide moveable within the elongate channel to capture and pull the flexible connector into a rearward locked position. In this condition, the bow string, string sights, dampers, tension cable, cams and other components may be safely worked on or replaced.

Indexing sportman's clamp

One indexing clamp includes a mobile base having handle and fastening ends and locking jaws at the fastening end, an indexing post extending from the base, a shaft extending from the post, a primary prong having a cavity, and secondary prongs. A shaft diameter is smaller than a post diameter, and the shaft and post are coaxial at an axis. The primary prong is selectively positionable at first and second lowered positions and a raised position. The first and second positions are angularly offset from one another about the axis, and the primary prong is rotatable about the axis when at the raised position. A biasing member biases the primary prong away from the raised position. The post and the primary prong cavity are configured complementary to one another such that the primary prong is movable between the first and second positions only after moving to the raised position.
