PROTECTIVE CABINET

Disclosed is a protective cabinet in the form of a moveable furniture unit that has structure to enable moving the furniture unit into a locked position in which it blocks a point of ingress of a would-be assailant, such as a door or window into a space. In certain configurations, the furniture unit includes protective, hardened material, such as a ballistic material that provides increased protection against fire from a weapon, such as may be encountered in an active shooter event. For example, the cabinet may be used on a daily basis inside of a classroom, and may be moved and locked into a position in front of a doorway, window, or other ingress or egress point of the classroom during an active shooter or other threat event to both block the ingress/egress point and provide ballistic protection against weapons fire from outside of the room. The back side of the cabinet (which faces the outside of the room that is being protected) may incorporate a psychological deterrent, such as a reflective surface or a calming message, which provides an added level of deterrence against an attack inside of the room.

Defense mobile device for shelter-in-place situations

A defense mobile device for securing a door during shelter-in-place situations. The device includes wheels rendering it mobile and stops that, when actuated, hold the device stationary. A panel has a ballistic core that resists bullets, a front face, an opening, and a cover positioned over the opening to overlay and enclose a door knob protruding through the opening. The front face forms, or has affixed to it, a writing surface. The panel pivots between a plurality of angled positions to facilitate writing and an upright position flat against the door. A locking rod, rotatably connected to the panel, pushes and pulls the panel between its angled positions and its upright position. A lever-locking mechanism or a twist-lock mechanism secures the device in place against or within a door frame and against the door.

Shield apparatuses having offensive and defensive structures

Ballistic shields having a convex configuration including a middle section and forward angled left side and right side wings. The shields may also include at least three manual or electro-mechanical roller units, transparent windows or display devices with cameras or other motions sensors, and spikes, electro-shock devices, or non-lethal incapacitating devices.

Civilian Bullet-Proof Shield

A shield has a rectangular body, a first rollerball bearing assembly mounted in a first bracket joined to the body, such that the first bracket extends away from the left vertical edge of the body, a second rollerball bearing assembly mounted in a second bracket such that the second bracket extends away from the right vertical edge of the body, and the spacing between the first and the second rollerball bearing assemblies is greater than the width of the body. The body rests on the rollerball bearing assemblies when standing and a user, is enabled to hold the shield oriented vertically and to move the shield side-to-side, and the user is further enabled to tilt the shield back toward the user, transferring support to wheels rather than the rollerball bearing assemblies, and is then enabled to move the shield forward and backward on the wheels.
