Drag separating reduced dispersion pusher

A sub-projectile carrier which uses aerodynamic drag to delay the release of a payload in a tailorable manner to control the spread of the payload over a desired range. A 40 mm shotgun style cartridge is shown for use for counter unmanned aerial systems, and for short range anti-personnel applications.

LONG RANGE LARGE CALIBER FRANGIBLE ROUND FOR DEFENDING AGAINST UAVS
20200033104 · 2020-01-30 · ·

The present invention is directed to a projectile configured to provide a submunition payload across a wide impact pattern, similar to that of a shotgun, at a range typically beyond the capability of standard shotgun rounds. The additional range is provided in some embodiments of the invention by allowing the tailoring deployment range of the submunition payload based upon a given threat.

Multi-faceted shot

Shot projectiles are disclosed that are not completely spherical. The shot has an equatorial ring, top and bottom poles, and one or more sections extending between the ring and the respective poles. The ring defines a vertical height relative to an overall diameter of the projectile. The one or more sections provide flat, concave, or convex surfaces.

A handgun shot shell includes a bullet case configured to include a body portion and a neck portion extending upwardly from the body portion, the bullet case including a closed bottom end and a mouth opposite the bottom end that is open. A primer is situated in the bottom end and a propellant is situated in the interior area of the bullet case upwardly adjacent the primer. A shot cup is in the bullet case and the shot cup defines an interior space. A projectile load is positioned in the shot cup, the shot cup having an upper end sealed by a gas check member situated over the projectile load. A cap member of epoxy is positioned atop the mouth of the bullet case that includes one of a first indicia indicative that the projectile material is bird shot or a second indicia indicative that the projectile material is buckshot.

AUTO-SEGMENTING SPHERICAL PROJECTILE

Described are spherical projectiles such as used in birdshot, buckshot, or single ball spherical projectiles, including slugs, muzzle loading projectiles, or any close-to-bore diameter projectile, that is auto-segmenting or self-segmenting upon impact with a target. The projectile or shot disclosed herein retains its shape and structure during flight until impact with soft tissue, whereupon its individual sections separate or segment in a controllable manner, each portion of the projectile imparting or depositing a high amount energy to the tissue and target. The auto-segmenting spherical projectiles can be frangible or non-frangible. This disclosure also provides cartridges such as shotshells that are loaded with the projectiles described herein.

CARTRIDGE LOADING PROCESS FOR BUFFERED SHOT SHELL LOADS
20190226822 · 2019-07-25 · ·

Disclosed are processes for loading a cartridge such as a shot shell with a shot load and a charge of buffer material. The processes employ a tube that is coaxially aligned with the axis of the cartridge case or shot cup, the tube having an outer diameter that closely fits into the inner diameter of the cartridge case or shot cup. Shot and buffer material are loaded, the leading edge of the tube is inserted to a sufficient depth to cause at least a portion of the shot load and buffer material to rise into the inner volume of the tube, and the tube removed. The insertion-removal cycle effects the efficient mixing of the shot and the buffer material and can be repeated as many times as desired.
