Diversionary Device
In a multi-burst diversionary device (10) containing a number of pyrotechnic cartridges (22) arranged in a series and a firing arrangement (14), a first of the cartridges is ignited by the firing arrangement, the remaining cartridges are each ignited sequentially by the flash of pressure and heat (hot gasses) produced when a previous cartridge in the series deflagrates. The device has a housing (12) defining a number of compartments (20) in which the cartridges are received. The housing defines flow paths interconnecting the compartments in series and the first compartment with the firing arrangement. Each compartment is also fluidly connected with atmosphere.
OFF-ON EXPLOSIVE WARHEAD FOR HIGH ENERGY FORMULATIONS WITH TAILORABLE OUTPUT PERFORMANCE
A warhead includes a casing having a removable front portion, a plurality of explosive segments positioned in the casing, a plurality of spacers positioned in the casing and separating the plurality of explosive segments from each other, and a removable piston configured to be inserted inside the removable front portion of the casing, wherein the removable piston pushes against the plurality of explosive segments to create a continuous segment. The removable piston may push against the plurality of explosive segments to close the plurality of spacers and move the warhead from an off position to an on position. The continuous segment may be above an explosive failure thickness in the on position. The continuous segment may be configured to detonate upon reaching the failure thickness.
Multi-purpose state changing munition
A multi-purpose munition operates in either a blast mode or a fragmentation mode according to a user input. When operating in the fragmentation mode, a fuze initiates a main explosive fill of the munition which in turn disperses fragments formed from a fragmentation layer of the munition. When operating in a blast mode, prior to initiating the main explosive fill, the fuze initiates a secondary energetic layer which discards the fragmentation layer. The fuze then initiates the main explosive fill thereby producing a blast effect.
MUNITION WITH DIRECTIONAL PROJECTION EXPLOSIVE
A munition has an explosive charge with direction explosive characteristics, such as a nonuniform detonation velocities. The explosive charge may have multiple portions of explosives with nonuniform characteristics, and/or may have portions with graded nonuniform characteristics. The explosive charge may be used to propel a material from the munition in a desired manner. For example the material may be fragments that are part of a fragmentation munition. Alternatively the material may be a layer of a material, such as a metal, that produces an explosively formed penetrator or shaped charge. The explosive charge may be configured to control the spread and/or direction of the material to be propelled from the munition.
Method and device for controlling the power type and power emission of a warhead
An initiation device and method allowing power output to be switched between blast generation and splinter generation. The device and method include a cylindrical warhead with a cylindrical, central explosive charge and a tubular perforated mask surrounding the explosive charge, and also with at least two ignition devices, the first ignition device arranged in a region of one of the head sides of the cylindrical charge, and the second ignition device arranged in a region around a center of a longitudinal axis of the warhead, and having a splinter-generating casing surrounding the perforated mask.

LIGHTWEIGHT MUNITION
A munition includes a composite case, a blast cone housed by the composite case, a grenade aft of the blast cone and housed by the composite case, a first attenuator forward of the blast cone, and a second attenuator aft of the blast cone and forward of the grenade.
Controlled fragmentation of a warhead shell
A series of small explosive charges are used to preferentially crack the casing of a warhead to provide for a controlled fragmentation of the warhead. During detonation of the warhead's explosive fill, the casing will break early in the process along predetermined lines resulting in very large fragments that are projected toward the ground and away from innocent civilians. A fragmentation control collar which contacts these charges can be fitted on the outside of existing warheads. An annular liner within the warhead aids in the controlled fragmentation.
