Ballistics system for determining the location of a round of ammunition

A system, associated with a round of ammunition, that enables a location of the round to be determined as a function of time, includes an antenna to receive a radio frequency (RF) signal, and output an electrical signal based on the RF signal. The system also includes a processor to execute instructions to receive the electrical signal from the antenna, and process the electrical signal to obtain network information that identifies a network address of a network device and a first time that the electrical signal was received. The system further includes a memory to store the network information to enable retrieval after the round is discharged from a firearm. The retrieval of the network information enables the network device to be identified based on the network address, and a proximate location of the round to be determined, at the first time, based on the location of the network device.

Further, the tracking device is adapted to transmit a tracking signal to a receiving device via wireless communication such as satellite communication, internet, Wide area network (WAN), telecommunications network and the like.

Projectile tracer

Tracer ammunition is disclosed and includes a projectile having a body; a chamber in the body having a front end and a rear end, the rear end of the chamber being open; an aperture at a rear end of the body providing an opening to the open end of the chamber; and a tracer material disposed within the chamber, wherein the tracer material is configured to combust when ignited and emit optical energy through the aperture as a result of the combustion process. The tracer material may be configured to include a rear-facing surface having a concave contour to aid in directivity of light output from the tracer material.

Retro reflective tracer ammunition, and related systems and methods

A projectile includes a component that is highly reflective and configured to reveal the projectile's trajectory when the projectile is fired from a gun and electromagnetic radiation is directed toward the projectile. With the reflective component, one can more easily limit the visibility of the projectile to areas from where the projectile was fired because the reflective component is passive, not active. As the projectile moves down range, the areas behind the projectile are typically where a shooter and/or spotter for the shooter are located, not where an enemy combatant is located. Thus, the trajectory of the projectile is revealed to the people who can use the information to adjust their fire, and remains hidden from the people who could use the information to locate the shooter.

Lighted nock

A nock body may include a first end and an opposing second end. A nock housing may include a proximal end that engages the first end of the nock body and a distal end opposite the proximal end. A slot may be defined in the nock housing beginning at the distal end that extends in a direction of the proximal end. An LED/battery assembly may be disposed at least partially inside of the nock housing. A fastener may be secured to the nock housing in a location that causes a width of the slot to narrow and secure the LED/battery assembly. A groove may be defined in the nock body beginning at the first end that extends towards the second end. A nock activation lockout can be provided to block an LED activation gap from closing so that the LED does not unintentionally turn on.

A tracking system for use with an arrow including a base unit defining an open central section; a holding magnet positioned within the open central section; and a sending unit that includes an electronic circuit; a main body section affixed to an electronic circuit; projections extending from the main body section into the open central section and at least partially surrounding the holding magnet; and a projection extending from the main body section and ending in a point; where the electronic circuit includes a battery and is constructed to emit a tracking signal when activated and the electronic circuit includes a magnet switch element such that the electronic circuit is maintained in a deactivated state as a result of the magnetic field established by the holding magnet.

Systems and Methods for Locating Arrows

In one aspect, an example system includes an arrow nock configured to couple to an arrow, a transmitter coupled to the arrow nock, and a controller. The controller is configured to (i) determine that the arrow has been shot from a bow and (ii) responsive to determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow, cause the transmitter to transmit a beacon signal at a variable rate that varies based on an amount of time elapsed since determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow.
