Token System for Use with Dedicated Rounds of Ammunition
A firearm cartridge with a specially-configured token disc added to its base. The token includes an outer section and a central strike plate. The strike plate includes a strike ball at its center. The presence of the token increases the effective length of the cartridge and thereby prevents the closure of the bolt of a conventional firearm. As a result, the inventive cartridge cannot be fired in a conventional firearm.
Cartridge with igniter cords
The invention relates to a cartridge having a projectile secured to a case that contains a propelling charge and closed by a base. A device for igniting the propelling charge has at least two energetic igniter cords that extend between an initiating means secured to a rear part of the case and the projectile. In this cartridge, the cords are joined at their rear part so as to form a strand, and they are fastened by at least one fastening means secured to the cartridge, the strand being connected to the initiating means by a packing gland making it possible to immobilize the cords both radially and axially relative to the initiating means while keeping the cords tight between their fastening means and the initiating means.
METHOD OF MAKING A TWO-PIECE PRIMER INSERT
The present invention provides a method of making a two piece primer insert comprising: an upper primer insert portion comprising an upper primer bottom surface, an upper primer aperture through the upper primer bottom surface; a substantially cylindrical coupling element extending away from the upper primer bottom surface, and an interior surface; a lower primer insert portion comprising a lower primer bottom surface opposite a lower primer top surface having a primer recess, a lower primer aperture through the lower primer bottom surface, and a flange adapted to receive a polymer overmolding that extends circumferentially about an outer edge of the lower primer top surface; and an insert joint that links and aligns the upper primer bottom surface and the lower primer bottom surface to form a primer insert.
TWO-PIECE PRIMER INSERT FOR POLYMER AMMUNITION
The present invention provides a multi piece primer insert for ammunition comprising: an upper primer insert portion comprising an upper primer aperture through an upper primer bottom surface; a substantially cylindrical coupling element extending away from the upper primer bottom surface, and an interior surface; a lower primer insert portion comprising a lower primer bottom surface opposite a lower primer top surface, a primer recess in the lower primer top surface adapted to fit a primer, a lower primer aperture through the lower primer bottom surface, and a flange that adapted to receive a polymer overmolding extends circumferentially about an outer edge of the lower primer top surface; and an insert joint that links the upper primer bottom surface and the lower primer bottom surface to form a primer insert.
Polymer ammunition and cartridge having a convex primer insert
The present invention provides a primer insert for a polymer ammunition cartridge comprising: a top surface; a bottom surface opposite the top surface; a coupling element that extends from the bottom surface, wherein the coupling element comprises an interior surface and an exterior surface, wherein the interior surface comprises: a convex transition region that transitions from the bottom surface to a second segment wherein the transition region has an overall convex shape; a first segment extending from the second segment and terminates at a tip, wherein the first segment has a first segment distance from 0.02 to 0.18 inches and the second segment has a second segment distance from 0.02 to 0.18 inches, wherein the second segment has a second segment angle from +3 to −3 degrees relative to the first segment angle and the first segment has a first segment angle from +6 to −6 degrees from perpendicular to the top surface; a primer recess in the top surface that extends toward the bottom surface; a primer flash aperture positioned in the primer recess through the bottom surface; and a flash aperture groove in the primer recess and positioned around the primer flash aperture and adapted to receive a polymer overmolding through the primer flash aperture.
Cartridge System
A cartridge for improving explosive dynamics of ammunition. The cartridge comprises a casing comprising a powder chamber. The powder chamber comprising a powder chamber length among a plurality of inner chambers. The plurality of inner chambers comprise at least a first chamber, and a second chamber. The casing comprises a powder chamber casing portion comprising a portion of the casing wrapped around side portions of the powder chamber. A cartridge chamber inner wall comprises an inner portion of the powder chamber casing portion. The powder chamber casing portion comprises a plurality of thicknesses which comprise at least a first thickness and a second thickness.
METHOD OF MAKING POLYMER AMMUNITION HAVING A WICKING TEXTURING
One embodiment of the present invention provides a making a polymeric ammunition having wicking texturing about the projectile end.
METHOD OF MAKING A POLYMERIC SUBSONIC AMMUNITION CARTRIDGE
The present invention provides a method of making a subsonic ammunition cartridge having a polymeric casing body having a generally cylindrical hollow polymer body having a body base at a first end thereof and a mouth at a second end to define a propellant chamber; a propellant insert positioned in the propellant chamber to reduce the internal volume of the propellant chamber, wherein the propellant chamber has an internal volume that is at least 10% less than the open internal volume of a standard casing of equivalent caliber; and a primer insert positioned in the body base and in communication with the propellant chamber.
Multi-Piece Polymer Ammunition Cartridge Nose
The present invention provides a polymer nose for a polymeric ammunition cartridge having a generally cylindrical neck having a projectile aperture at a first end, an outer shoulder surface that extends from the generally cylindrical neck, an outer shoulder angle defined by the outer shoulder surface, an inner shoulder surface on the inside of the polymer nose opposite the outer shoulder surface, an inner shoulder angle defined by the outer shoulder surface, a skirt surface extending from the inner shoulder surface, a skirt angle defined by the skirt surface and a nose junction that extends from the outer shoulder surface to the skirt surface, wherein the nose junction is adapted to mate to a polymer cartridge.
Polymer cartridge with snapfit metal insert
A high strength polymer-based cartridge has a polymer case with a mouth, a neck, a shoulder below the neck, and a body below the shoulder and having a case thickness (Tc). The body has a flat portion comprising a pull thickness (Tp), and a dip, closer to the shoulder than the flat portion and comprising a dip thickness (Tb). The cartridge can also include an insert attached to the polymer case opposite the shoulder. The insert can have a flat section contacting the flat portion and comprising an insert wall thickness (Ti), and a bulge engaging the dip to maintain the insert on the polymer case. Tc, Tp, Tb, and Ti are related by Tp+Tb+Ti=Tc. These variables also have ranges where Tp equals approximately 15-33% of Tc, Tb is greater than or equal to Tp, and Tc is a function of a loaded projectile.
